Layout question
So, for starters this game is awesome.

Question for those that have gotten past this part, do you build a lot of homes? I get to building condos and realize my layout needs to be redone. I've learned to only build homes when I need them but I get to condos and I'm stuck.

Well, as you need empty homes in order to get fablings to move in, yeah I build A LOT of homes. As things are costly not only in money but in resources and space as well, I tend to build as needed, so it feels like I'm always in the process of building a homestead along with whatever workplace I have in mind.

Condos though, I don't build a lot of. Commoners are finicky and not very useful, except for staffing the hospitals, so I've gotten into the habit so far as to build one condo for every time I intend to add a hospital. On the plus side though I think they pay higher taxes.

I end up building almost half and half. Commoners can work in everything but farms (so far). I build bigger condos, with 12 houses + 2 stores. They pay more gold too, which is useful

I make small peasant neighborhoods. Each neighborhood consists of blocks of houses, happiness buildings in the middle, then houses. Each house is a 2x3 lot. Be careful to align your wells so that their influence covers a house; it just needs to cover a house, not the full yard.

House [], House, House, House, House
Street =====
House, Stage w/ Granary behind it ::, Bakery {}, Tavern w/ Well behind it ;;, House
Street
House, House, House, House, House

Alternate these blocks to have a hospital.

Stage & Granary behind it, Bakery, Tavern & Well behind it, Hospital [_]

As Fablings move in, they'll generate enough income to provide for these areas in addition to a couple farms and producers for wood and stone.

A heavily compacted rural settlement layout looks like this. Almost all dwellings have water, bread, medical and gastronomic care, as well as street theater entertainment.

Thank you so much Gnomageddon! I've been keeping your layout in mind for when I could, and (a version of ) it has helped me greatly in getting the ovreall happiness levels up. It just... takes a while. As in, making several of these setups. And as soon as you start on a new one, the levels take a dip again, until you've manned all the happiness buff stations. XD But the point is, it has greatly improved my game, thank you!

Seriously though, the overall system does need some work. Decorations need to add to the count for one thing, and for the other... how does 5+ 5+ 3+ 3- equal a total score of 3 for a building? It shouldn't. We need some way to nullify/counter a negative score source.

Those +5/+3/-3 values all stack. You probably have a few of them with multipliers labeled on the icon to show you how many of that building debuffs are stacking up effecting that home.

The one thing to remember also is that the bigger the settlement is your people will starve to death faster because of the size of your settlement. Right now starvation seems to be a big issue with some people. Fishing is disabled for now due to pathfinding issues. So be careful when planning your settlement.

Start building your homes the way you want and right click out of it after you decide on your 2x attachments. This way you can plan where you might want to build your homes, and plan ahead somewhat. Only click build the ones that you really need (homes near work areas) to minimize their walking distance from home>work>home, and continue to build/accept new fablings into further homes away from work areas (unemployed fablings)

Is there a way for someone to screenshot that from above so I can visually see what it looks
