Is it possible to have a new type of wall that comes with a built-in DIY tool in the game ?
A built-in pixel art drawing tool, very much like the one in Animal Crossing, which allows folks to paint their own walls.

I believe a DIY-able wall with simple default colors (like black and white) would help a lot of non-modders who are fervent about interior design and house-building. We would be able to draw graffiti on our walls, for instance. Or, having a new painting hanged on a white/black wall. Clothes hanged on the walls, etc. If there could be an option of a transparent wall paint we may even be able to DIY a new fence or shorter wall.

P.S. I am a simpleton who had taken java lessons for three years in elementary school but learned nothing other than there was a green little turtle. To learn programming languages at present, therefore, is very challenging and time-consuming task for me, as I have passed the prime years of learning efficiency. So, I really respect general programmers, game developers and mods' creators: You folks are brilliant! Let me know if this idea can work, for I am ignorant of this subject. :>

I have uploaded some supplementary illustrations to my Profile -Artworks, if my words appear abstract.

Hi, thanks so much for your suggestions!! I really like the idea, it seems very Animal Crossing-esque to me (in the best way).

However, the way the current wall-and-wallpaper systems work, this may be a bit difficult to store as part of save files, since something like this was never intended when I originally created the system. (Though I already have some ideas on how it could be done as I'm writing this haha)

Something to additionally think about is that, due to the nature of a 2D game, player-drawn sprites wouldn't be able to simply be slapped onto any surface (like they are in a game like Animal Crossing) and, instead, players would likely have to draw in the isometric perspective to begin with, and potentially draw both wall rotations for each wallpaper, and so on.

In summary: I love the idea, but I doubt it'll happen any time soon as part of the base game. I can definitely see something like this being created as a mod for players to use, though, and the tools to make it happen should already be there as part of the modding API. Maybe a future modder will read this and go "I'd love to create the Custom Paintable Walls mod!" :)
