News Tower - Early Access FAQ
Why an Early Access?

We are a 4 people studio and Early Access is the best way for us to improve the game with your feedback in mind. We are bringing a solid core-gameplay loop first and we’ll be adding more content, immersion and mechanics later on.

-

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

The full version will feature extra content, going from 1930 to 1939 – whereas it goes only from 1930 to 1935 in Early Access.
We’re also going to keep on building on the existing features to give them more depth.

-

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

The current state of the game includes:
One part of the main campaign play from 1930 to 1935
100+ objects to build and manage your tower from printer to luxury decoration items
10+ job types to make sure your newspaper is running
The reporting, production and printing core loop of the game
News map to send your reporters dig the hottest news of the moment
1000+ News items to report on
New York district systems to gain more readers according to their interests.
Progress unlocking systems to grow your News Empire bigger and more efficient.

-

How are you planning on involving the community in your development process?

Each update will be implementing improvements gathered from community feedback, so keep sharing your feedback and suggestions here!
We will also share key updates and events via Steam blogposts.

-

On what platform will the game be available? Are other platforms planned?

News Tower will be available on Steam for PC & Mac. There are no other plans for now, as we are first and foremost focusing on the quality of the Early Access for these platforms.

-

In which languages will the game be available?

The game is currently available only in English, but we plan to add several other languages for the 1.0 launch: French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Polish and Russian. We will keep you updated if more languages are added!

First, Love the game as I recently bought it. I know its early access, however playing the game I have some question regarding the game development since I see great potential for the game after the core game is finalized.

1. Is there a plan or contemplation for a steam workshop for user-created content such as:
News headlines/scenarios, new NPC & tasks (Similar to Mafia, Mayor, and High Society), Objects, new perks/skills & job-type, setting tweaks (Employees walk faster, carry more, etc), Custom Unique Employees, Attires, etc...
Note: Basically, I would love to see a steam-workshop for the game that let you customize almost every aspect of the game similar to another unity game ie Oxygen Not Included . However, I understand it isn't quite possible if the game wasn't designed with modding in mind initially.

2. When or if the game will eventually get difficulty presets when starting a new save, ie Easy, Normal, Hard; would you also consider into adding an "Advance Setting" which allow players to adjust the difficulty by fine tuning aspect to what they want such as: Reducing/Increasing Wage scaling, Starting Funds, Amount of Weekly stories, chance of Flash/Breaking news appearing, negative/positive events, greater chance of negative news tags, employees perk occurrence rate, etc...

3. This is in the distant future, but will there be DLC for the game to expand it further into other scopes such as multi-year & multi-story connected news story-line (As an example idea)?

4. Is it possible to have an accessibility option that replaces the building Icons on the right side of the screen with their text label instead of requiring to hover the mouse over to show the tooltip label? I'm asking because the UI can/is a bit overwhelming until you can remember what is which and where to click and find what you are looking for since the Icon sorta all looked the same due to the color scheme which add to the confusion.
