Items break way too often...

Honestly once you get far enough into the game and have enough money, it's not even worth it to even have a mechanic because the potential penalty that your workers suffer from say a light being out or a toilet being broken outweighs the cost of just selling and buying a new one versus having to wait for your mechanic to take forever to get there if he's not already busy fixing a gumball machine every other week. Not to mention a fully upgraded table with bandsaw takes up quite a bit of space which can already be a problem on its own. And while it's a less of an issue when it comes to resupply, you could almost say the same thing. It's almost easier to just manually place the items yourselves especially if it means you're gonna have a power black out due to coal running out in the generator or a telegrapher not having paper. I seriously think the resupply and mechanics need to be heavily buffed or possibly alternatively, have things break at a way less frequency and retune the supply costs of actually printing the paper so I dont gotta haul up 2000 paper from the street every week.

In general I agree.

But:
Buy more lamps to outrun the penalty for a dark room.
I never built a bandsaw.
It IS easier to supply by hand, everything but the printer. I always do it, if there is a lack of items, except for the printer. I never fill the printer and never buy 2000 paper on stock. Buy enough for toilets and telegraphs, fill them manually and buy paper for printers while printing.
