no connection to online services

This game is advertised as an online game and people in this 'Returanal steam discussion board' talk about playing onilne but i havent been able to connect once. My internet is fine but when I start the game I cant connect to the internet. Do i have to do something extra to get online? would appreciate some help since I might enjoy this game more if i could do daily challenges

some one else has to be playing and have also be waiting for an online connection... Good luck. I got one once in 8 months. Then the game wiped my save file for no apparent reason after I had 140 hours.

easy to find an online co op on ps5. Its disappointing the steam version seems hard to find one. Developers should make an update to unlock console cross play just like helldivers

solved:
after taking a 2 week break from playing i noticed online services were working. must have been updated. But now the game glitches after finishing a daily challenge. I respawn and cant walk/run, mouse doesnt change pov. no pause button.
