PS5 Pro - will we get some update or nah?
Presumably there will be some update for PS5 Pro compatibility, can we get some update on PC plez?

FSR 3, DirectStorage (to fix traversal stutter?), DLAA, Frame Generation independent of upscaling (mix match different vendors) are some ideas

Doubtful. Likely the only games that will be updated for the PS5 Pro are both God of War games and Spider-Man.

directstorage would not fix traversal stutters, that is not what this api is about.

ps5 pro is just a gpu upgrade ie going from 5000 amd to a 7000 amd gpu and you have to pay for your disc drive and stand seperate.

God of war Ragnarock, and Spider-man do not need updates, you'll just select fidelity mode and the uncap fps option, which are already in the game (also present in most sony first party games).

I mean they've left it in a broken state since the last update for what is it, a year now?

Lol.

It is unfortunate because it is one of the only games with all of a good HDR implementation + good built in benchmark + frame gen

Avatar and Talos Principle 2 are the only "competition"?

It would help fix some texture blurring while loading though, as seen with portal 2 rtx
Frame gen isn't good in returnal, takes away responsiveness

An upgrade to UE 5.4 would fix most of these issues I believe

It can help in certain situations. I suspect unreal engine itself has some underlying issue that would not fix it but in other games its still helpful. It can use the gpu to decompress assets which would normally stall the cpu long enough to cause a stutter.

The best example of this is the port of the last of us remastered on pc. Since pc's have different amount's of vram and drastically different specs they used decompression on the cpu to both save storage space and increase the amount of systems the game could run on even if it run's poorly. Even when the cpu isn't maxed out including single core utilization where a specific task might be assigned the decompression takes long enough to stall the rendering order. Everyone dismissed me at the time when I said direct storage would likely tremendously help the performance of the game. God of war Ragnarok came to pc recently with a huge storage requirement of like 200gb or so. In an interview they specifically stated that instead of compressing the highest quality asset and decompressing it to various qualities they used different sets of textures that already had a massive storage footprint using one set. They said they did this specifically to avoid stuttering.

Ya.. IO bottlenecks are a real problem right now. I don't understand why directstorage is practically unused on PC, and even unused in aaa console games. Jedi survivor is a perfect example of it's need
