Fatal Error?

For no reason the game starts and show a small window with "Returnal has crashed" fatal error.
Funny thing is, in the background the game starts like normal and if i press any button it activates "ok" on the lil window and the game closes.

Im still also confused why it installs Epic on my PC =(

unfortunately, this is not the only problem
this game is really falling apart

there are technical problems with the graphics after a while they break down. there is a lot of stuttering. many fatal errors. generally a mess
the issue is that they left this game to its fate without making more updates

it needs a lot of work here to fix many problems, I don't think they will deal with them anymore

I deleted it too

I can't understand why they didn't ask first before installing this on our computer
and there is no excuse here

and as if all this is not enough, we also have to deal with a damaged title that has 60 euros

I've been running this without issue until today, whenever I try to start the game it gives a fatal error. This is after file verification and reinstallation and no prior issues.

I've been playing the game without issue for a few days now, then yesterday after rebooting my PC I now get "Fatal Error" on every launch, 100% of the time. Never made it to gameplay/menu once. The `-dx11` launch flag doesn't help, file verification changes nothing, a graphics driver update changed nothing-- I even did a full reinstall *twice*, on two different SSDs, with no change in behavior.

Please help? 😭

I fixed this last night after encountering the same thing, I had to go into game properties in Steam and disable the overlay. After that, it's been working fine without issue. I even went and re-enabled the overlay and the problem hasn't returned yet.

I fixed this last night after encountering the same thing, I had to go into game properties in Steam and disable the overlay. After that, it's been working fine without issue. I even went and re-enabled the overlay and the problem hasn't returned yet.

It makes me so sad to say this, but I've tried that as well with no success :(

Dang! I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe try wiping your drivers with DDU... outside of that, I can only wish you luck.

try deleting the games .ini file or config file. it might be one of the games settings doesn't agree with your pc.

Same error, I've been playing for 40 hours and now suddenly I get a window when I start with a fatal error. I have uninstalled the game, but it still doesn't work.

Possible source? Game is not set connect to online automatically. It is dying whenever i select go online from the main menu or select the sphere. You may be able to play local Is yours set to go online auto? try changing the setting to off then interact with the sphere, does it error? setting/game play/start-online

EDIT: Can confirm changed setting to online enabled. Game crashes on startup...now how to change setting when i cant load game :D

EDIT: Testing: about 4 tries starting before i was able to play online. It errors about the time the cut scene starts. My buddy can login without issue after some initial errors. Not sure if it's epic games launcher fault but it is tied to go online/sphere/ auto go online.

If your just looking for solo play turn off online & you should have 0 problems

I have the game on Steam, I have tried putting it in offline mode and it works. As you have mentioned, the problem comes when trying to connect to the internet, I suppose it is the ps network servers
