No pre-compilation shader step (can I force it?)
when I start the game on my steamdeck, there is a warning that I dont have the necessary hardware to run optimal the game and then the game just starts. The step that the game pre-compiles some shaders to reduce stutters is totally missed. Is there a reason? can I force it???
(game was run on my pc and it does pre-compile the shaders)
this only occurs on my windows 11 installation on my steamdeck

You need to delete blob file that is in your save folder. This will force the game to recompile shaders.

Steam Deck usually downloads pre-compiled shaders, which is possible for the device since there is no core hardware variation.

SteamDeck downloads pre-compiled shaders only for verified games and only when you run SteamOS... I am running Win11 and no, the Returnal is not verified or playable...

SteamOS is downloading shaders for Returnal on Steam Deck. The shaders are updated fairly often too. On Steam OS, it can be made run at about 30-40fps (which is not a great experience in this game to be honest as higher fps help with combat but it works without crashing and very little stutter, if any).

Not sure how it will be on Windows 11 - I dual boot there for several reasons but newer games tend to perform worse on Windows (may be related to the APU drivers not being updated as often as a standard GPU driver would be). I guess its just unplayable on Windows 11 at this stage. Tho I really wish Valve would support Windows a bit more.
