Same issue here. Started up fine and got one good session in but now nothing. I hit play and i looks like things are spooling up and then - nothing happens. I've tried drivers and files and verifying and re-installing. No glory regardless of what I do. Sorry that I don't have any meaningful solution, just shared agony... but sharing is caring right?
After doing all that steps I end in the same place: After clicking play, the Epic Online Services Bootstraper pop up prompts, I click in accept, then it looks like its going to launch the game, and I end in the same steam window saying that the game is trying to start with optional parameters (but no optional parameter is highlighted).
At that point if I click accept, then the loop starts again and next time in the "optional parameters" window it will appear as launching " Returnal Returnal ", if I click cancel, then it all stops...
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing all the folders related to returnal in my computer and nothing...
PS.: You can see the process below:
Sorry the system is in spanish, but hope you get an idea of the problem...
Edit Launcher.ini in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Returnal\Returnal\Binaries\Win64
into this withing the qoutes:
"
ApplicationPath=../../../Returnal.exe
WorkingDirectory=
WaitForExit=0
NoOperation=1
"
As long as you change the launcher.ini , and uninstall EpicOnlineServices, it won't try to install it or use it, and no epic overlay, in terms of online play no idea, if I had that services installed or not, seemed to have no impact in terms hosting and joining results in searching forever.
Also keep the epiconlineservice file in the folder, if the game happens to verify itself it won't have to redownload that file. The only thing the verify will redownload is the launcher.ini file, even if it was made read only, so no point doing that too, and the game won't alter it itself.
