Always start at the ship?

yes, never really played a rogue like title, so forgive me for asking this question.

Ok, I get it that when you die, you start at the ship and the surroundings keep changing.
However, I have been at this dessert level for some time, even made it to the boss but sadly had practically no health because of these fast sword wielding teleporting jerks.

So when I finally manage this dessert part, does it mean when I die, I have to go through the entire woods (or whatever the starting position is called), and through the dessert again to reach the new surroundings?

Yup. Like any Rogue like/Die and retry, you must ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from the beginning.
Except now you have the key to the desert, you can just now find the gate and go into it instead of doing the first boss again.

When you die in biomes (levels) 1-3, you return to biome 1.
When you die in biomes 4-6, you return to biome 4.

That said, you have several things to help: Reconstructor devices act like a one time save, so when you save your body there youl'll resurrect in that instead of at the start.
You also have robot toys, which resurrect you on the spot once.

Also, as you progress through the levels, you'll unlock shortcuts and have keys for biome gates so you wont need to play through everything again, though that will mean you'll miss out one some items and upgrades that will make you stronger.

Sadly, I never foung any resources to save at these Reconstructors. No idea wher to find them.

I also never found the grabbling hook to pull myself on to hard to reach places. No idea where that damn thing is either. Would help to get health.

Certainly never had the shortcut option. The dessert is as far as I could get.

In the first biome, you have 2 doors with a circle above it.
They're shortcuts to the 2nd and 3rd biome.

(also you'll soon unlock the grappling hook, don't worry about it)

2 pieces of advices :
- use straffing a lot (move sideways)
- against melee/grounded enemies, abuse changing elevation. They'll struggle to keep up and you can damage them while they try to reach you.

You get the hook after you defeat second boss.
You get Ether (resource for Reconstructors) pretty much everywhere, but you also use it for stuff like clearing corruption from items, so you have to pick when to use them for that and when to use for Reconstructors.

ok, i try to be more watchful. although i pick up pretty much anything i see glow. besides the parasites. these i leave alone.

^Ether is also purple (although a bit different from parasites) so make sure you're not ignoring it because of that

Just for your information, killing bosses grant 5 ether.
Meaning you can kill the first boss if you want some.

Maybe so, but I rather do it by myself. And yes, I played some more today and still never cam across any ether.
