i keep whatever whatever gun works better for me, higher level doesnt mean it works better for me, it took me a bit to realize that.

That'd be a choice for you to make, generally higher level weapons are stronger because more pips for the stats and more traits the higher you get.

Depends. Are you feeling that the Hollowseeker is lacking where you are right now? Is the other weapon a weapon you like/fits your style as well? In that case swap. But if you can still handle what’s being thrown at you and the other weapons is something you don’t like then just let it be.

E.g. I’m not picking up any shotgun as it really doesn’t fit my playstyle. I also won’t pick up a higher lvl version of the weapon I’m holding if I feel the current one is still adequate and the new one has a trait I don’t like.

damage stat is important but so Is weapon perks which may also improve damage and general usability. for instance I wont take a dreadbound even if it has maxed out damage stat because the way the weapon works is garbage to me

Yup that's why if I EVER see a shotty that, regardless of how much better it is, if it EVER has that trash Wide Maw trait, if I have a recycler item, yeah, get it out of my cycle.

Depends...Does it have an unlockable weapon trait or alt-fire? Have I already unlocked the trait on my current weapon? If I need just a few more kills to unlock a trait with my current weapon I'll leave it on the ground till I complete the unlock and them backtrack and pick the new weapon up.

Hollowseeker sucks. I get people like it because of the high fire rate and tracking, but I assure you it causes you grief against any enemy that has counterstrike. Use a heavy damage weapon like Thermogenic launcher w/ full auto.

Counterattacking enemies are why I like the rotglobber for this reason: fire a couple of times then hide while the poison does the job for you :D

Hollowseeker is quite good with certain traits like: Serrated, New Target, Portal Turret and Portal Beam for example. Beat the game with those. But it's lackluster in the first half of the game, that's for sure.

It all depends on the traits. Damage is the most important stat, however if you get traits that work better with your current build then that should be your priority.

Also don't forget that sometimes it is important to use a gun you don't really like in order to unlock a new trait for that weapon. Very often new traits can totally alter the way guns work, the slug shot for example turns a shotgun into a long range weapon!

Just keep using new weapons with locked perks to unlock them. Some of them transform weak weapons into a cannon while others can auto heal you making the game 10x easier.

I use guns by situation. Having played the game through dozens of times on the PS5, I have an idea of what I want per level. Then this is measured against what I can actually get. Sometimes the highest level weapon isn't the best.
