Where is the sword?

I got from the ship in many many rooms fight enemies, open treasures etc..... but i can not find the sword to break the red walls.

Where is it?
I only have one weapon to shoot, but no weapon for melee

You'll automatically unlock as you progress. I think I got it in the 2nd biome.

no its in first you need it to progress to 2nd

Just keep playing, including dying. Sword will unlock in the 1st biome because it's part of the story. Other things unlock also before tackling the 1st boss (contrary to what the internet says, so was this changed in an update?), e.g. the House Key/Astronaut figurine and Cthonos.

So now i got the sword before the first boss.

Now i am stuck at the first boss, i can beat down one from his three "levels" and then he beats the Sh*t out of me.

Welcome to Returnal :D The game has a completion rate of about 20% on ps5 for a reason. I beat him after i got lucky with weapons/drops and kept adrenalin high in a run. But the gameplay will remain on a high frustration level due to the massive hp the bosses have.

The first boss is pretty simple.

phase 1

Blue spread shot - just run sideways and fire at him

purple bullet rain - run to the centre while firing. zig zag sideways if the fires red orbs from his hands.

eyes flash - dodge to the side to avoid laser beam.


Phase 2

Same blue spread shot

purple bullet rain - just fire at him and watch for the eye flash, dodge accordingly.

red ring - wait for him to dash at you and dodge his swipe attack. Jump over the red ring, spin 180, zig zag to avoid red orbs.

When he sinks into the floor, be ready to dodge 2-3 swipe attacks when he comes back up



Phase 3 -

purple ground pattern + blue rain. treat this just like the blue spread from phase 1/2, taking care to jump over any purple orbs

red ring - same as phase two, except now there are 2 red rings so your timing has to be tighter, or you need to dash while in the air

purple bullet rain - this is tricky. he will alternate between 3 attacks during the rain (red bullets from hands, eye laser down middle, eye laser sideways sweep x2). You need to time your dash to go through the sideways laser sweep, and/or avoid the other two attacks.



Also, do not zoom in aim. You will walk slower and get hit. The game has some forgiving auto aim so you can strafe quite easily. just keep the reticle somewhat on the boss, and your shots will land while running.

This game is all about pattern recognition. If you're scrambling to avoid getting hit, it's usually because your timing is off and/or you anticipated a cue wrong.

Make sure you come prepared before tackling this boss, e.g. make sure you have maxxed out integrity, full health, and the Astronaut figurine, and whatever dmg protection boosts you can get. Only need to do this once.

Unlock the various traits of guns. I recommend unlocking the high caliber trait for the carbine. Also, be sure to try and unlock the astronaut figurine as soon as you can so that you can grind down the boss and resurrect if he kills you in the last phase.

I also recommend exploring the biome for upgrades and consumables (some parasites might also help if their negative effects aren't too horrible) that you can use during the fight. It's best to build yourself up a bit before heading to the boss,

Thank you for all your advice, so far i did not make it to the boss a third time because i get killed before.

Might i ask another noob question.
There are some places i can not reach, for example in the first area where my ship is located, there is a door on a higher level.
It looks like there is a bridge that can slide out ? Or will i get an update for the jetpack somewhere to fly higher?

Killing bosses will unlock various permanent upgrades that will help you reach places that were unreachable. ;)

You'll get a grappling hook after the second boss i think, that' s what you need to be able to climb those.
