if it's public it give a classical NAT restricted error when you try to join (the game don't say it, but it is)
If you are already in private, then open some port in your router
Note : on MANY games it's possible to join or host in public network but for this game it's impossible to join when in public network (did more than 10 try - public=> error each time, but when private never had any error)
Hope it'll help you. (english is not my main language)
THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY MY ISSUE! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Can you elaborate on what you did? Having a hard time understanding what the guy is saying

Select the Start button, then type settings. Select Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi. On the Wi-Fi settings screen, select Manage known networks, and then select the Wi-Fi network you want to change. On the Wi-Fi network screen, under Network profile type, select Private instead of public. Doing this will allow you to host and join games. If playing with someone else they will also have to do this.
One other weird thing I am noticing compared to my friend's game launch, I have a strange black screen, after the company logo's, with the yellow loading circle that freezes for about 10 seconds, followed by normal boot-up. His game doesn't boot up that way. Not sure if relevant or not.
My network is private but it still doesn't work for me, i was able to host a game but when I try to join it connects for a minute to a minute and a half and keeps telling me "connection timeout"
Okay I found the fix for me atleast, the problem was I had a vpn put firewall settings on my wifi (or something along the lines, i aint IT)
Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network and Sharing Center > Connections: (Blue Text Here) > Properties (one with admin shield) > For me it was unchecking "NordVPN LightWeight Firewall"
I don't know much about vpn's and what they do to your wifi so if you use a different VPN you might have to search it up but that was the fix for me
I have the same issue, did you end up fixing it somehow?
