If you play with Xbox Wireless Headset (or other Xbox-compatible headset) do you have audio cut-offs and stuttering?
I use Xbox Wireless Headset for playing games. I encountered this problem first time and only with Returnal. I also tried to disable Dolby Atmos for Headsets but for no avail. The moment I turn off the headset (and audio switches to laptop's internal speakers) the audio becomes normal.

Again, experiencing this problem only with Returnal.

Same issue, but with headphones hooked up to the Xbox Wireless controller. Whatever hardware or codec they use to transmit wireless audio doesn't seem to be playing nice with this game.

Same issue.

I'm not sure what issue you are having, but Xbox headsets don't support Dolby Atmos.

My Corsair Virtuoso XT headset is working fine without cut-offs or stuttering in the audio.

This one does (it's not an Xbox headset but *the* "Xbox Wireless Headset", a specific headset model):
https://www.xbox.com/en-US/accessories/headsets/xbox-wireless-headset

But the cut-outs have nothing to do with enabling Dolby Atmos, neither in-game, nor in Windows.

Audio is fine with my stereo speakers but as soon as I switch to the headset the audio is broken in Returnal. And only in Returnal. When playing back music with Spotify while the game is running the music is unaffected, so it's clearly a problem with the game's audio acting strange when using this headset. I'm using it with the official wireless receiver from Microsoft.

Ok, I see that supports Atmos on Xbox, but not PC.

There may be a setting enabled that is not working with that specific headset.

No, on PC as well. You can select it after installing the corresponding app.

Ok, then I am not sure what is causing your issue. The site you linked doesn't show PC support for Atmos, just Xbox.

Could be some other issue with how sound is configured.

It seems that a lot of people with different setups are having the sound cutting out.

I have worked out today this is a real problem!! I have the Bang & Olufsen Xbox headset and it cuts out constantly. when I switch back to speakers its absolutely fine. going to try some different headphones tomorrow or plug the B&O's in with a 3.5mm cable to test them out

Yes it happens to me too, and happened on Gears 5. Has something to do with 3D / spacial audio in games. You can get around it by plugging in the Xbox wireless headset while playing Returnal. Same fix for Gears 5, and it 'fixed' it for me here.

By plugging in do you mean USB or 3.5mm audio?
Omac Feb 17, 2023 @ 4:33pm
For the Xbox wireless headset, plugging in via USB.
OKdrummer87 Feb 17, 2023 @ 5:00pm
Yes absolutely I have audio stutters when playing with an Xbox controller (wired to PC) that it is unplayable.
Renno83 Feb 18, 2023 @ 11:00am
So just to follow up I can confirm that my audio drop outs were fixed after connecting my Xbox Wireless headset via USB to my PC. Thanks @Omac

Just for clarity I am using a PS5 Dualsense controller also plugged in via USB

Thanks, will try it.
