PS5 controller stops audio

I tried plugging in my PS5 controller to play Returnal, but the moment I do, I lose audio to the game. I am using my headset cable for the PS5 as I have no idea where my PS5 cable is. Could be that causing the issue or something else?

Yes, thats normal.

The Controller has its own audio output and windows changed to it as soon you connect it.

Just change it back to whatever source youre normaly using.

Whenever you plug in your PS5 controller to your PC for the first time, it tries to change your output to the controller (for whatever reason), so you'll need to open up your audio devices (usually by right-clicking the speaker icon in the bottom right on your desktop), then change the output back to your speakers/headphones.

it doesn't work for me. I can hear my friends on DC but youtobe spotify etc won't make noise.

when you plug the controller in, windows automatically selects the controllers audio(which is also the same channel for haptnics) as the output device, go to your audio devices then on the right hand side select 'sound control panel', and set your main speakers as the default device. i can guarantee this is the solution. IF you dont care about haptnics you can straight up disable the ps5 controllers audio to prevent windows from ever selecting it.

Not sure if you guys know whats going on but my headphones are plugged in to my ps5 controller and don't even show up as an output device. Anything will be helpful

Just want to say PS5 controller is both beautiful but garbage at the same time. Literally I smashed it, it would take all the audio even though my sound is routed properly and it would be in and out between taking it, cutting out, and not taking it. All while ingame. 8K HZ isn't worth a buggy unusable product.
