Malware.
I know its about the cross play or online play in general. Does it run constantly on the background even when the game doesnt run? or it just runs while you play the game? Because if its just a service for this purpose who cares.
They key to effective malware is to make its onboarding process as friction-free as possible.
It's malware , literal ♥♥♥♥ / spyware .
If you really think about it, everything is malware. Do you personally know the creators of the software you use? And even if you do, how certain are you that they aren't eyeing your deliciously sellable data?
And that's just the data you offer now from your PC. No one reads those agreements that pop up before you're even allowed to install that software you already paid for. You're probably handing ownership of all aspects of your life to publishers. Bank accounts. Your pets, or family members. Future children. They probably already own your DNA.
The safest option is to delete any accounts that offer the option, microwave all of your storage media, melt down your PCs and any devices using similar technology, and abandon everything digital.
We should never have come down from the trees.
But even then, you affirmatively choose to download, install, and sign up for Steam.
EOS is delivered as a Trojan-horse payload that nobody asked for.
Nobody wants to cross-play with Epic, and implementing a payload full of Chinese malware to do so is the opposite of "progress."
Cross platform is complete garbage, look at any game ever made with it, saves get corrupted left and right, most sane players instantly turn that ♥♥♥♥ off when booting the game for the first time. Why in the hell would I want to play with someone on a console to hinder my enjoyment with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ loading times or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ connection?
