it does this because SONY obviously very much want you to shop at the EPIC STORE instead.

that dead, empty, creepy-ass store with no customer rating system beyond the 4.5/5 (at least) they provide you on all major games I've seen.

and SONY does this because the EPIC STORE gives them a better percentage than STEAM does, even though STEAM is in *every single way* the superior platform by miles and miles. and everyone knows it.

SONY may also have some sort of stake or deal in the UNREAL ENGINE, I don't know about that.

The Epic Launcher is not a mandatory requirement for CO-OP, they easily could have used Steam Auth Session auth/ticket for EOS.
The fact that they force you to install Epic Launcher is a deliberate choice

They do not force you to install the Epic Launcher

EOS has nothing to do with EGS. EOS is a cross platform cross play solution that integrates into UE and is used by many games. It is a simple way for game using UE to support cross play. If you're allergic to Epic then why are you even buying this game? It runs on Epic's Unreal Engine. Cut out all UE games from your life, you'll be missing out on a ton of games.

I assume this is for Co-Op, which, as I mentioned before, is not a necessary requirement for the project, since you can uniquely register uses in EOS GameServices for your App via Steam Auth Session type of auth and use EOS sessions/matchmaking or lobbies.
