Wait you lose everything going into act 2? Lmao
Lmao had a good build, was lucky with so many malicious integrity slots, max integrity over 250%, 3 large silphium. Protection and weapon damage was 30 or maybe 40%. Beaten act 1 without deaths. Now im in act 2 and my weapon, health and items all gone lmaooooo no no no no. Now i have zero reason to start from act 1.
Patch this.
I guess dev would be worried being op lmao
What a waste of time.

Edit: I'm talking about not being rewarded for playing from act 1 into act 2 and getting stripped from upgrades.
If its first playthrough, fine get stripped, but somone already beaten the game should keep everything they worked for on act 1 into act 2. Its supposed to be roguelike. Its all about building yourself up as powefull as you can.

It's a new run, so yeah. I remember being surprised by it at first but I got over it quick and then I realized that due to the narrative it wouldn't make any sense for everything to carry over anyways.

Wasn't a fun of it either. Pretty weird move on their part.

You do, but you also start from 15 proficiency and weapon drops are better with more traits.

Not really. You would carry so much momentum from the 3 1st Biome, it would make the 3 last trivial.

It would make them trivial, because they are made with the reset in mind. You are supposed to carry the momentum and if you die, you lose it all. I think they put the reset there so that the run would be much easier, since you lose nothing by starting from the fourth biome instead of the first.
New player :) hi Feb 28, 2023 @ 10:03am
They most likely did it for narrative reasons, but also because doing a full sweep of the first act can take almost three hours and you can just about guarantee people would be compelled do it if they let you carry on items.
And there's no real way they could've designed act 2 around letting you keep prior upgrades AND letting you start from scratch without one method being unbalanced. It's pretty much there as a hard checkpoint.

Going into act 2 starts a new cycle, since selene died on earth and came back to Atropos.

on PS you cant pause the game, so basically it was splitted into 2 acts yes, otherwise you would need to play for around 10h on PS to trurly finish the game, which isnt nice huh?
Also, during 3d biome you are almost maxed out, what would you want to do in 2nd act then?

To start maxed out of course. That's what i spend my time doing on act 1. It should be my reward for playing.

Also not my fault that they didn't implemented the suspend cycle option on ps5. Still no reason to strip all my upgrades.
I'm not against the checkpoint. Im against taking all my upgrades from act 1.
If i die on act 2, reset the suite, fine.
But if one started from act 1, they should be rewarded for it.

Not my fault if act 2 would be easier. It's a roguelike, you build yourself every cycle. Why take it all away?
I understand for story purpose, but it shouldn't be for people that already beaten the game.

It shows that they didn't really thought this over. Like player 2 gets disconnected after act 1 because player one needs to go through story.
Like not having the tower coop. Im mean come on. It's fast paced and ideal for coop.

No real reward to play for.
I mean lets us unlock a crazy parasite suite by completing act 1 boss with adrenaline level 5.
Or finish act 1 without resins upgrades.
Ect ect.

At this point i just want to join others and help them with their run.

I think it's intentional to make player feel bad, disappointed and angry. You escaped the planet, lived your live and you are back trapped again? You start a new, separate cycle.

At least you start with lvl15 proficiency so weapons come with few perks from the start. You can also unlock new permanent upgrades.

You really have to see act 1 and 2 as 2 different parts of the game.
You're just starting another cycle, in another part of the planet.

(It's also explained in the lore)

Please read my last comment.

I understand what you're saying and it makes sense for a first playthrough, but not for someone that already beaten the game.

It's a roguelike and all about building yourself up, so it's stupid to strip me from what i have played for on act 1 on act 2. Making starting from act 1 completely pointless.

And since there is no reward system, the replayability of the game drops significantly imo.

you have your permanent upgrades
And the meta progression in this game is about unlocking new artifacts/weapons/consummable and ESPECIALLY new traits.

And again, the fact you have to start over has nothing to do with the lack of pause in the PS variant of the game

I understand your point and I felt the same as you. I normally don't even like rouge like games.
After a huge disappointment I just accepted it's a separate mode. Like run A and run B.

What works for me is knowledge that there is much more that I keep than it may seem.
