This video with few simple tips helped me a lot with the game.

As long as you prioritize not getting hit over doing damage, you could no-hit every boss in the game with every weapon (in theory).
So yeah, I hate to say it, but this is sadly a case of "git gud".
I've done the first boss maybe about half a dozen times now, and I'm at the point where the first time I usually get it is in the last phase when I waste my dodge like an idiot and land smack in the middle of one of the slooooow AoE attacks.
I've realized that if you play well enough not to get hit at the start, the game throws a lot more resin at you which let's you snowball a bit in terms of suit integrity.
Also, having artifacts that increase max integrity or restore it when getting/getting rid of malfunctions/parasites and of course getting resin shields help with snowballing hard, since it's easier to keep at adrenaline levels 4+ which lets you earn more weapon proficiency which help with killing things faster et cetera.
But things like getting a miniboss in the second room happen and yeah, they pretty much end a run unless you are very good.
Make sure you have the Astronaut Figurine and leveled up Integrity as much as possible. Augments for damage +10% and protection +10%, Adrenaline Leech, and a Hollowseeker/Carbine of sufficient level and a perk you like.
Dodge the melee attacks, dash through projectiles (except the purple ones) and you should be good.
At the boss keep your distance, relax and evade only if you really need to. Avoid the red circels by using jump and save your dash if you can.
Take a familliar weapon you like, even if its not max level - a good ulti is a bonus.
Respawn/health items help.
If you beat him - you can and should skip him until you are more familliar with the game. Focus on progress - you will unlock your suit items faster - with them you will gain more stuff so the game gets a bit easier.
In my opinion the first boss is by far the hardest - first of all he is a blocker, blocking you form progress and other unlocks, keeping you "weak". Secound, his difficulty level is high especially if you are not familliar enough with the game.
Tough fight but I'm sure you can defeat it. Just make sure you explore alternative routes and use resources on the machines for upgrades/items. Keep your distances and be ready to dodge the melee attacks.
