Returnal PC is not authentic.
Any non Gen 4 nvme m.2 drive user should get the following message upon boot

"You can't use the hard drive on your PC". "Use an M.2 that meets this requirements 1. Gen 4 2. Min capacity of 250 gb up to Max capacity of 4 TB only".

"Turn off your pc and replace your hard drive"

That is just stupid...
A PC doesn't need a Gen4 M.2 NVMe for a PS5 port to be "authentic".

By that logic every PC user should have less than 1TB of 5,500 MB/s read/write Gen4 M.2 NVMe storage, a Ryzen 3700X CPU, and a GPU no greater than a RTX 2070 in performance... which defeats the whole point of having a PC. I haven't owned a PC that low in performance since before the PS4 Pro released!

Next-gen consoles are impressive and good value but that does not mean they are superior in performance just because they adopted storage technology PCs have been using for years. A PC from 5+ years ago still outperforms the latest consoles and current hardware like the RTX 3080 12GB is nearly 3X the performance of a PS5 and more than 2.5X the performance of a Series X, which itself outperforms a PS5 by around 1.7 TFLOPS (FP32).

TLDR: You are uneducated on the topic.
Which is why a console costs $500-$600?
And a decent PC sets you back pretty much at least $1200...at the least $1,000 and $3-$4,000 aint even the be all end all lol.

I kind of see what his point is. PS 5 comes with a 667 gb of free space so an additional ssd is the way to go for many PS 5 owners. Sony requires a gen 4 ssd with 5500 mb/s even though most if not all PS 5 games would probably run fine on a gen 3.

The Returnal min reqs make Sony look bad since it proves that PS 5 exclusive games can indeed run not only on lower end ssd's but even hdd's.

Most PCs run games better than PS5 though.

That is why you hear of the 32GB recommendation. In case you don't know, the harddrive can become irrelevant, as long as you have enough ram/vram, logically loading is the process of dumping dead memory (HDD/Nvme/SDD) into your live memory (ram/vram) so the PS5 having 16GB, I'd assume 3-4GB is probably dedicated to the OS, Sony is making sure they can "circumvent" the lower average speeds of drives in PC by leveraging the much higher average of ram than consoles. Nothing to do with "authentic" experience, it's more about, how can we have our games reach the largest audience possible.

I have a ton of hours in the PS5 version and very much do *not* want an "authentic" experience for the PC release. If the PS5's many, many bugs are replicated here, a lot of players are going to be very unhappy (and rightfully so.)
