When you find the room with the confusion bubbles, favourite every one of the students, you can then easily see them when they leave the room, and via process of elimination easily see which one is the mole

You have to zoom in fairly close to see the confusion thingamies. I found a good way to catch them is to watch the Year 1 Spy classes.

They don't appear that often. when i was on the challenge where you have to spot 3, my first one was in year 2 and i did not see the other two until year 6.
Just make sure you don't zoom out too much as i think you will not see the effect they give off. Once you know what to look for they are pretty easy to identify and i didn't expel one wrong student.

i only had 3 throughout my entire run of that campus, everytime i expelled 1 it said there weren't anymore

Are your teachers having the correct education for the research project. Most of them, especially the ones that just make money, need the teacher to have at least one level in a certain academic discipline.

Thank you for replying, yes they are qualified spy and research teachers and I’m trying to do the spy related research. I’ll keep trying though!

Yep me too. I got to year 9 and still hadn’t seen any moles since the tutorial mole. I restarted the level and have found 4 before the start of year 4. Could possibly be a bug and may be worth remembering that the games run differently on everyone’s hardware so let’s not judge too harshly. Lots of the other reported bugs aren’t affecting me but looking on here they are indeed affecting others. ☺️

Go to your student lists and click on spy school students when the mission first comes up. Sort by grades and just go down the list selecting each student and watching them. All mine were students that had not yet started classes, that is why I sort by grade, Watch them move around. If they encounter other students and no confusion results, go the the next one on the list until you find the mole.

There was a bug where you could find the mole before the quest to find him even popped up. If you got rid of him too quickly, the game wouldn't queue any more because it didn't know you'd gotten rid of the first one.

There are always confusion effects showing around students that are close to the mole so you have to look for those. Once you find area in which mole is present, watch the students closely until one of them takes out binoculars. Of course they move around so it takes few minutes to locate and follow it at times but I was able to find them pretty quickly.

It's not binoculars; at least, I never saw any. It's a big ass mobile phone.

I found one of the needed moles but didn't see any moles for a few years Using LeZabet's idea (above) of checking spy school students, I checked each year 1 student (sorted by spy school then grades) I found 2 students that were "sabotaged". I expelled both and one was a mole. Then I looked at 2nd year students and the 1st one I found and expelled was the 2nd mole. Finally I'm working toward the 3rd star. I do remember seeing 2 students talking on the "big ass mobile phones" mentioned by wicked lester; however there weren't any swirly things so I ignored them. Won't ignore them in the future.

Your best bet is to pause the game as soon as the notification appears. When that happens, there are likely only two or three 'confused' students. At that stage, click on each and rename them as something like 'mole 1'. You then know it is only one of those: follow them about to see which of them turns up elsewhere where there is confusion. This was the same method I used for ones I thought were press in one of the TPH levels and it worked. In this case, I ejected one student wrongly but none after I began doing this. I renamed them afterwards so it didn't cause confusion (pun) afterwards.
