Partition walls are frustrating
When I saw that partition walls were a thing I was pretty excited. I don't remember seeing them in TP Hospital, and I had some big ideas for use in my rooms.

However... I don't really use them.
Reason being, they're really frustrating.
I can divide a room with them, but I can't place most things next to it like I can regular walls.

I wanted to divide a staff room into a walled off kitchen and seating area, but I couldn't place what I wanted next to the partitions.
I wanted to set up dorms with these walls for privacy and to break the room up. I couldn't put anything I tried (other than the beds and the wardrobes) next to these partitions.
One of the dorms I had split into little 2x2 sections with the walls. Got the beds in, but I could place absolutely nothing next to the partition walls. I tried the wardrobes and one 2x2 worked and the rest didn't. I tried a bed side table, one 2x2 worked but then it said the bed was blocked... It wasn't. So all these little 2x2 sections literally have 2 beds in them, and that's it. I am physically not able to put anything else there.

Also, you can't hang pictures or anything on them.

Disappointing as I had some ideas for room layouts that aren't possible.

Is anyone else finding these things annoying?

Yeah I found the same thing, and ended up not using them.

They are very near useless

Have you tried holding down the CTRL key when placing objects? It gives you a little bit of fine control when placing and rotating objects.

It doesn't matter, most objects can not be placed against it the way they can with a wall, and you can't hang anything from it. As an object the divider should have been treated functionally like a wall in relation to other objects, instead it is its own object with a required space around it and nothing can be mounted on it or directly touching it the way a wall can.

Which makes the divider mostly useless. The only thing I use them for now is blocking off parts of buildings where I don't want people wandering (areas that will be used for future rooms I have planned but can't yet afford, no need for idiots to go wandering over there complaining about being cold in an empty space)
I really hope they can improve the partitions. I love the idea of them but the current implementation is sadly rather lacking. Here's hoping they can improve them.

I wasn't aware of the CTRL placement
Thank you for that

But as Kunovega said, it probably wouldn't help much with the partitions because of how they work

Hang a picture? On a non-load-bearing wall?? It's like you want the entire Two Point county in shambles! /s

Yeah... I feel the same way. Very disappointed. Missed opportunity.
