The anti-virus i have on my pc, is the windows own defender
Sorry to hear this!
Have you been able to exclude the files from Norton's checks? Here are the folders to exclude if you haven't:
C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\Two Point Campus (that's the one you can find with %appdata in file explorer)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Two Point Campus
Once that is done, reverify the game files in Steam and you should be good to carry on as normal.
Let me know how you get on.
Thanks,
Chizel
Edit: The saves reset ALL my progress, so it's 40h gameplay lost, thousands of assets carefully placed and what not. I can't play further and I am really not the start-over type of player, I spend as long as possible in one scenario and like to min-max everything... so well, since it is all gone now, I uninstalled. This is a mess, really.
I'm sorry to hear that you had trouble with your saves.
Can you tell me more about how you lost your progress? Did your game crash whilst you were auto saving for example?
If you still have the Two Point Campus folder that your are stored in, could you send it to me? There should be back up files in there that we can try to restore.
To send your folder follow this navigation path in file explorer: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\Two Point Campus. Once located, "Zip" the folder up (right click and you should see the option) and then send it as an attachment to campus.support@twopointstudios.com
Can you also include a DXDiag? The steps for this are in the following link: https://support.sega.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/201556491-Creating-a-DXDIAG-Report
Please add a description of the problem and a link to this thread when you send your email.
Thanks for your patience,
Chizel
Nothing unusual happened, just suddenly a message that something went wrong (likely while it tried autosaving) and the same when I tried Quicksaving right after. I backuped the folder with the saves right after that happend, I will send it in the next days.
However there is only one single backup file in there with the right date (named #6, not #1-6 like the two former dates also in there) and this one didn't load when I renamed it, so I don't have too high hopes.
As for the Antivirus, I run only Avira free version which is absolutely passive, never messed with any of my game saves, also it did not even bother with the files when I ran a direct scan. Plus, I was playing already around 40h before and all was auto- and quicksaving just fine. That's why I don't believe that is related to it.
The third Campus was almost fully upgraded, 10 or 11 years in, a ton of assets placed, every wall full of posters, perhaps the overload caused a conflict, no clue, judging from the size of the file, all should still be saved in there, though.
Also I found 5y-old threads that this happened to bunches of people in TPH already. Too bad that no manual save option (not quicksave) was implemented in TPC. It would at least allow to have more different backups, without shutting down the entire game for each.
For those interested, in my case the issue was the mere size of the file which is dealt with in the Beta Branch of the Game (V 8.1, which will be released soon). In Beta my fixed save works fine now.
