We're a small team (around 40) and currently the studio's focus is on Two Point Museum, if that changes we'll make sure to let everyone know.
Please look into becoming an ally of your consumer base in the future.
Its doubly weird to see Denuvo still hanging around, since apparently the Linux version does not have it at all (and never had it) - so its literally making me feel like a worth-less consumer, just for using Windows. Its all just not very uplifting.
I have been in PC gaming since we had black and white graphics and not once has DRM helped anything be better or stopped kids from being able to share games. But those kids eventually get jobs and want to just play their games, mod them, tinker around, have them be compatible in the future, and so on. Its all downside in my eyes and its very depressing to see the villains of the last decades (Securom, Safedisc and such) still hang around in the days of streaming / digital delivery.
We should all band together to get rid of them, because they add no value and the money you are paying to them should be staying in YOUR pockets, the creatives, the coders, the managers etc. You are the people delivering value to your consumers. Denuvo takes it from them.
Again I plead that this perchance be taking into further consideration in the future. I know I am not alone with feeling - and making purchasing decisions accordingly - like this.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Thanks for the message - without derailing this thread too much, every month I do a 'community report', making sure to read ever single message across all our channels (bar Discord as there's like, 1000s). From that, I do what's called "sentiment reporting" which is a big summary of the main take-away positives and negatives the community is discussing, and in that is a list of key topics for the wider team to take on. That means feedback and requests make it to the wider team, and for example when we're doing QoL changes we can be steered by the players (:
Denuvo is, and has historically been, featured in these reports which are read by the wider team alongside some members of the SEGA of Europe team too.
Whilst we can't always deliver on absolutely everything, and things like Denuvo's inclusion of course involve a bigger conversation, I wanted to reassure you that you are being heard, and your feedback does make a difference.
We'll make sure to continue reporting on what it is the community is wanting. DRM, alongside requests for a GOG version (as GOG is innately DRM-free) are pieces of feedback that have popped up a fair bit this last month - as folks are looking to pre-order Museum.
Take care!
- Abby (Junior Community Manager)
(Maybe TMI in this post, but as a tl;dr: every message is read, collated, and key topics sent to the entire team at Two Point.)
Could you send the following feedback to the entire team?
I love this series and wish you all financial success. It's brilliant, please keep up the good work!
Hi Abby,
thank you for the detailed and indepth reply. I prefer longform over tl;dr when its about things that need the depth like here. I am happy to hear there is a line of communication and that both Steam being DRM free as well as GoG being something consumers want are points of visible contention.
Best of luck with the new iteration and thanks again for the reply and reaction.
Best,
Runner
Special shout out to whomever voices Sir Nigel. Really hope Two Point Radio makes it into the new game
