Mega drive version? What about the superior Amiga version?
Well?

Probably the cost of licensing the Amiga stuff from Cloanto would be too much, if I had to guess.

You'll find two versions of Zool included in the package, including a version based on the Amiga code. We hope you enjoy!

Sounds good. Hopefully we'll see the sequel at some point & more Amiga classics - Steam lacks classic Amiga games. Lotus anybody?

Anyway, good luck with the launch, I'll pick it up too.

Let me clarify Lee, its not the pure Amiga version, there will be two versions of Zool included here. One which is the MegaDrive one and the reworked Zool with wider screen and other improvements but its not the Amiga version

Yeah the guy sounds like a piece of work. It's the same reason Evercade haven't had Amiga releases of games.

One question: will there be an option to switch between the original view of the game rather than playing in a zoomed out view?

Actually after refreshing my memory, that Mega Drive version was pretty good. The CD32 version was still prettier but the Mega Drive version was decent. Hopefully the new version is a better game because after replaying it in Emulators, the game has aged very poorly. If it was ever that good.

It's a terrific game, at least on Amiga 500.

I only played the old PC version of Zool and Zool 2. How similar are the other versions including the new?

The new version is based on the Amiga version. All the ports had various differences.

Hey man thanks for the reply. Still sounds good to me, from what I could see the MD version refined the game anyway because to be fair the Amiga version was rough around the edges.

I wish you every success. I was just thinking of the possibilities for other Amiga ip that have been forgotten about, that would be nice to have on Steam as remastered or just basic versions made available again. Demolition Hero, Lotus Trilogy, Turrican Alienbreed games etc I can dream ;-)

Lotus will be difficult because of the licence.

Maybe they could rename it to Turbo Challenge 1-3, and remove Lotus references.

That's the kind of cheapo thing Piko Interactive would do. I'd rather they keep the licence since it clearly uses the cars.
