Can you lower the ground combat difficulty?
I had a side mission given to me from a NPC in a space station asking to get an artefact from a pirate leader, I had to find and hack a terminal. First I had to kill 4 ships which I'm fairly good in doing. Not so in ground combat where I'm desperately weak and slow, doesn't matter which weapons I have, I'm just too slow switching them, and I get killed often, btw the AI is very good I think. My problem was that 5 armed guys were inside a smaller hangar compound in space with 1 entry only, so only a frontal attack will do and you cannot shoot while jetpacking with G (or yes?).
Can you destroy soldiers on the ground with your ship? If yes I need to try next time.

But more generally, can you lower the on-foot combat difficulty without restarting the game, and how do you do it?
BTW, you can have wingmen in space, can you also have soldiers helping you on the ground? That would be amazing!

Thanks very much,

I don't know if it is a bug, but when I have wingmen with me, they follow to ground missions. AS long as it takes place on the surface, they kill everyone in seconds.

That's amazing, thank you! This game surprises me more and more...

Also, pay attention to the level of your gear compared to the level of your opponents. If the Soldier level of your character is 6 (for example), make sure that your armor and weapons are also level 6 (max level). You can tell by looking at the gear - the lower left corner should have "L6" to indicate it is level 6. Using max-level gear will help you survive ground missions.

Also, the shield/health bar of the enemy will show their level on the far right side. If you're going up against enemies that are too high over your character's Soldier level, you may just need to come back and fight them after you've gained a few more Soldier levels.

And lastly, if you're having trouble switching weapons quickly, consider using a Pulse Rifle or Assault Rifle as they are both good at short and medium ranges and can even get a few hits in at long range so you can just stick to the one weapon throughout the mission. And try to aim for the head as you'll do WAY more damage.

I've now figured-out how to learn and install character perks, so I have chosen grenades, but then you get only 1 grenade?! I hope this is an error from me where I didn't get ammo in these devices which are on space stations, but I can't recall they actually have grenades.

I think the difficulty is perfect, it's challenging.
If the Enemys are too difficult for you then level up. In each system is a level limit. If you are level 6 then go to a system with L5-15 or something. Go to a planet, fly to a "Salvage Yard" of your choice and go in the Dungeon to leveling.

And dont forget what SDShannonS said. The equipment should be in your level.

The grenade has infinite uses, but it needs Energy, which regenerates slowly.

Some ship perks also cost Energy.

What? The AI is bare bones. They move, stand in place and fire in intervals, they cannot even lead targets. They know your location at all times and will follow you on rails, you can lead them out of cover easily or get them stuck if you fly to somewhere they cannot path to

Just use the sniper rifle and aim for the head when they stop moving, If you take damage sprint/run left or right of their incoming fire until you regen... You can literally run circles around them. If they are defending you can just stand outside their range and pick em all off.

I randomly break the ai on settlements/bases just by getting into my ship sometimes. The other weapons are garbage, sniper rifle does absurd headshot damage and has a scope. Ammo gets hoovered up regardless of distance so ammo is irrelevant.

Imho the worst is how enemies spawn. They can spawn right next to you. Very visible in the "free captives" missions. You land, get out of ships and they right there next to you, kill them and more will spawn next to you, rather than come running out of the village etc.

Some villages turn into a lagfest if you use a turret, as your turret will try shoot through any obstacles, like houses, walls to hit an enemy.

Extremely easy to dodge their shot by strafing left and right.

Shotgun in their face will oneshot pretty much anything even higher enemies unless they have shields then it is a 2 shot.

Use the hammer... knockdown is your friend and is op.

Same with the ability that let you dash. You can knockback enemies so far they can fall of cliffs and die or even dies while hitting walls.

Do not ever stand still... never ... always stay in movement.

Even the hacking missions, do not stay in the room unless you, like me, like to knock them on the ground using an hammer and then blasting them with a shotgun.

Using a sniper and staying out of range is the safest and easiest way to do those missions. Slowing down time is a great perk for every sniper out there.

No idea why you quote me on something I never said. -)

I would like a difficulty slider in the settings. It's a single player game so my settings would not effect your game play. At this time I can not complete the starting storyline with my limited combat ability. So the game to me is just ok.
