Can't Change Camera Angle

I can not get into 3rd person when I'm in my spaceship. I tried using the "C" key but all I end up with is 1st person in the cockpit. I watched several streamers and they mentioned to change the view to 3rd person on ship was to push the C key, and to hold the C key if you want 1st person view in cockpit. It really would be easier to fight the enemy fighter ships in 3rd person. Anybody got any idea what I need to do? Thanks!

C is the button to change the views. It is even possible to move the camera after you are in 3rd person. Maybe you moved the 3rd person view by accident? Look at this video from the guides section and it shows some camera control options.

The video was informative, but it really did not address my problem. When I click on the C button, nothing happens. I didn't really move anything in input controls. Is there supposed to be a third person view on the input screen? The only camera control on mine is the Z button for free look, and that works. But nothing that says C button to change views. It really has been difficult to fight in space with only the cockpit view. Thanks for response.

Reset your input settings. C is the default key for camera change

It was an earlier version of the game where if hitting C multiple times you got different views, 3rd person, front view looking back , side view etc. They took it out and it's not in 1.5 anymore, there's only cockpit and 3d now if you press C, and if you want to move your 3d ship ahead you press CTRL + NUM8, CTRL NUM4 to get closer. Z will look around instead of flying.

Thanks for responses! I finally noticed that C was missing in the shared inputs under ship where it said camera view. But thanks for the info on moving the ship with the CTRL + NUMB and CTRL Num 4.

I made a mistake: To move your 3d ship closer, it's CTRL+NUM2 (not NUM4), also try what CTRL+NUM4 and CTRL+NUM6 do.

Thanks again for that, I kinda figured it out after I got into it. The same way you do it in Empyrion Galatic Survival.

Is there a way to remap the camera control numpad buttons? I use a compact keyboard with no numpad.
