Most players prefer the Xeghan Warrior ship, 3 weapon slots, 4 slots to put your captive pilots in, almost all component slots. It is a fast ship and performs well in combat.
And yes at some point you will have made enough money to buy all ships and try them out.
Take into account that as you level up, the price of ships will increase also, recommend you save your game before buying a new ship, try it out and if its not what you like you can return to a point before you bought it and buy another ship.
Please tell us if ship prices are still a bad deal to progress the game. Thanks!
I've decided to add some extra information regarding ships, it will contain 'spoiler information' so If you want to discover things for yourself, Stop reading pls.
Regarding best ship in the game , like I mentioned before, it all depends on your own preferences, all ships allow you to complete the storyline and do missions.
However each of us like different things and also , what works best for me won't necessarily mean that it also works best for someone else.
I've gathered some basic stats regarding ships and will add some comments how I feel about those.
As you all already know , ships have lots of stats ranging from armour/shields to flight/warp speed, Dmg bonus, Dmg resistance/absorbance, Cooling , Crit dmg/chance, Cargo space etc etc.
I focused on Weapon/Captive/Component slots, Shield/Armour/Speed. These are stats taken from level 5 Tier 1 Ships, ofc when you level up your ship (and yourself) so will the stats of your ship.
The stats are averages, you can always find ships with different stats
Ship name......Weapon...Captive....Components.....Shield.....Armour....Speed (Km/h)
Donnarenar (*) .......2..............4...............4.............3000........3500............3000
Nexasis ......................4..............4...............7.............2800........2900.............2900
Annihilating...............6..............4...............5.............4900........5500.............3000
Xeghan Warrior........3..............4................7.............2150........2500.............6800
Falron...........................2..............4...............5.............6250........8600.............3000
X-M...............................2..............1...............5..............1900........1200.............11.600
The Mist......................2..............4...............5..............5100........3250.............7500
Mothra Geran............2..............4...............7..............2600........3150.............2900
The Queen.................5..............4...............5...............4500.......5400.............3000
(*) Donnarenar has the ability to launch fighter drones which are a great help during combat
So if you want the fastest ship, choose the X-M, drawback is you can only capture 1 enemy pilot and (only) 2 weapon slots. Ofc you can upgarde your ship with an extra turret (component).
The Mist is also very fast, 4 capture slots , not as fast as the X-M but it has better shielding.
3rd fastest ship is the Xeghan Warrior, big advantage is that it also has 7 component slots, although weak shielding and armour.
Now if you don't mind switching weapons during combat and want lots of shielding/armour the Annihilating or The Queen is your ship, decent speed and lots of firing power.
If you want a tank like fighter ship, highest shield and armour, go for the Falron.
I know most of us are also big fans of Sci-Fi movies/series, so if you don't care about stats (which is fine), but just want a cool looking ship that resembles ships in movies like Guardian of Galaxy, Star wars, Battlestar Galactica => IMHO
Nexasis ship reminds me of the Cylon ships in Battlestar Galactica. :)
Donnarernar ship and also The Queen look like the ship used in Guardian of the Galaxy and like the fighter ships used by humans in Babylon 5.
Mothra Geran is ofc similar to the X-Wing ship in Star wars :)
Regarding Weapon slots :
When you're using multiple weapons of same type, the effiency of the weapons will decrease, 1st weapon 100%, 2nd 50%, 3rd weapon 30%. Putting in a 4th weapon (of same kind) translates to 0% effiency => zero dmg output !!
So 3 is the max, ofc you can equip 2 different types but then you have to switch weapons during a dogfight/combat, and I personally don't like that. There is a little pause before your weapons are ready to use when you switch.
Ofc using the same weapon will cause overheating, but that can be countered with cooling effects on weapons and other components also there is an ablility and a perk that helps.
Regarding Shileds :
Whenever you get hit by enemy fire your shield will absorb the damage being done, BUT it does mean that your shield needs to recharge, and (sadly) there is a delay before your shield will actually recharge, (there's a little bar visible related to a time period in which your ship will not recharge)
That's why I don't care too much about having lots of shields, I focus on Dmg resistance/absorbing.
So considering multiple aspects of ships, I chose the Xeghan Warrior, I want a fast ship, I don't wanna switch weapons in combat, I do want to capture pilots, and I also want to use lots of components to upgrade my ship. The weak shielding I compensate with components that increase my Dmg resistance/absorbing and ofc my speed helps to evade enemies that are chasing me.
Once again all ships do well in combat, it all depends on how you wanna use it, or what you think is best to have on a ship.
Have fun guys and girls, and give 'em hell :)
