Trade Convoy: Let's figure this out.
Alright, I have now attempted (5) different Trade Convoys and had to warp out on every one and wanted to share my experience to see if we can discern a pattern (or not). Here's the info I have so far. For reference, my Pilot Level was between 27-29 on all these:

  • Morthra > Voltet [K6 LvL 37-47] spawned in LvL 47's.
  • House Perimena > ? [unk LvL 25-35] spawned in LvL 42's.
  • House Binezula > Tamerok [177 LvL 39-44] spawned in LvL 65's.
  • House Pariq > Seragon [1153 LvL 40-50] spawned in LvL 78's (I'm not kidding).
  • House Birin > Mimiq [103 LvL 5-15] spawned in LvL 65's.

I haven't been able to find ANY pattern, rhyme or reason for what Level the defenders will spawn as, regardless of the System Level, Minor Indie House vs Major Faction, Hub System or rando "nobody cares" System and even the value of the take (which is usually from ~70K to maybe ~280K).

Has anyone else had any luck in determining how this new mechanic works?

I only did two tests with house Seragon, but the pattern there could have been:
[Average Soldier Level (1) + Average Soldier Level (2)] / 2
Where (1) and (2) are the involved houses from the trade route.

Therefore, maybe you need to look at different values of the involved houses, rather than the systems the battle takes place.

If that were the case then my 1st attempt, against a Main Faction, would've been like Level 150 defenders or something super high like that. Houses are the lowest in value compared to Factions. And Seragon, the one that spawned 78's, is for me, the bottom of the pile (because I've taken some of her Systems).

Regarding Trade Convoys, I don't understand yet this concept.
I did manage to locate/find a Convoy ship, attacked it (destroyed all parts), killed all defenders, even left my ship and entered a convoy ship and destroyed turrets inside of the ship, but what benefit do you get destroying Convoy ships? Money?, Resources? Weakening certain factions?

What Pilot Level are you and what Level did the defenders spawn as? Also, any other information you can give to help us figure this out would be helpful, like the System it was in (or at least it's Level range), the Faction/Houses involved, etc.

Just for clarification, as it seems you don't understand the formula (which can still be wrong - that's another story)
A house is a house. My formula doesn't distinguish if a house belongs to a faction or not. Each house has an "Average Soldier Level"-Rating. It doesn't matter if the house belongs to a faction, it doesn't matter if the house lost systems. The value stays (and might increase a bit, when your pilot level increases).
Level 150 defenders would mean, that at least one house would field 150+ Level fighters when attacked. The highest I've seen so far was ~90.

Then there is the problem, that things change. The ratings from my pre 4.1 saves are different than these from my new game. Therefore your values are most likely different from mine - still I doubt that one of your houses got a value of 150+. But doubt just means I don't know...

+1
(and as additional question: will it lead to war and if yes: with both houses or only one of them? The entire faction?)

I started a new game and progressed to the point where you need to destroy the Seregon Integration Station.

Im level 12 and the house seregon ships are level 58. its not just convoys. everything had a huge boost in level. Im pretty sure the last time I did this mission all the enemies were below level 10. with most of them being level 7. And it didnt matter if I was level 30 in the last save when running operations all enemies were below level 10 but they usually had 50+ ships at each capture point (drone docks, turrets, shield generator etc)

From my testing:

Voltet: Average Soldier Level 84 (spawned 47's)
Perimena: Average Soldier Level 74 (spawned 42's)
Binezula: Average Soldier Level 87 (spawned 65's)
Pariq: Average Soldier Level 101 (spawned 78's)
Birin: Average Soldier Level 56 (spawned 65's)

So, you stating it's based off their Soldier Level doesn't work because Binezula & Birin are wildly different yet spawned identical defender Levels. Then Voltet & Perimena being 10 Levels apart, spawning 5 Level different defenders but Voltet & Binezula are only 3 Levels apart and spawned defenders 18 Levels apart.

There must be something else involved in the calculation.

Hello there,
Thanks for all the inputs so far. We are working on this issue at the moment

Nah, the calculation would've been - given a Trade Route between Voltet & Birin:
Voltet(84) + Birin(56) = 140 -> 140 / 2 = LVL70 Units will spawn
or Trade Route between Binezula & Pariq:
Binezula(87) + Pariq(101) = 188 -> 188 / 2 = LVL 94 Units will spawn

However if Voltet alone has 84 and spawned 47 it would mean the other party should have a Level of 10 (as 84+10=94 -> 94/2 = LVL47 spawns). This is unlikely.

Anyway I believe it's best to wait for the update before we dive any deeper.

I will get even more detailed in my recording of each attempt to see if anything DOES fit your formula.

Nevermind, DBK already dropped a Hotfix for this, time to test it all over again. Thank you DBK!
