How do I switch Between Full Auto/Semi Auto/Burst?

My guns switch modes on their own mid combat. Usually after I engage jetpack. It's annoying and I don't see anything in the tutorial vids covering ground combat.

And while we're on the subject of completely unexplained ground combat...I just got a melee weapon I can equip. Woohoo! Now...how the hell do i use it?

i went into settings and input controls and assigned melee and crouch to my mouse side buttons ...

Just press LMB for semi auto.
Hold the RMB then press LMB for full auto (not available for charging weapons).
