1 hour Mining results: Asortak
**Working in 4.0**

For those of you who don't know yet, the PROPER way to mine is to find the Ore with the Worms from your Misactor. Bore a tunnel into where they stopped, being careful with your aim, then once you locate the Ore, return the Misactor to your Ship and get out manually using G. Fly your Character into the tunnel and mine the Ore manually set to 99% Efficiency and 0% Power (MMB).

You get infinite ORE from that single deposit doing it this way. The annoying part is you have to hold both mouse buttons the entire time, so get creative.

*NEW METHOD in 4.0*

Thanks to Incubus Erling there's an easy way to do this if you have a Keyboard with a 10-key numpad on it. Set your 'Num Lock' to:

  • Aim = 1
  • Fire = 0

Once you're going (after holding both 0 and 1 on the 10-key numpad), hit 'Num Lock' again then release both 0 and 1 and you're good to mine hands free for as long as you wish.

Here are the results of exactly 1 hour mining ASORTAK by hand, in Space.

    472 Asortak Ore.
3304 XP to the Explorer Skill (7 XP per unit, highest in game so far).
~18% XP to the Mining Guild progress at Tier 1.
~$6 million TY in sell value at Tier 1 Miner's Guild.

There are far better ways to earn TY in game than Mining but I wanted to give a shout out to those who found out this trick in hopes to further bring light to the Devs about the unfortunate state Mining is in right now in hopes they'll balance it better.

I've sen that "infinite ore" claim made before - and "AFK mining". It is not true for me. Even at 0% power 99% efficiency, the beam still eats through the ore and rock. It's a LOT better than at default 50/50 setting, but no way is it anything near infinite.

Asortak, if you mine with the Misactor nets you 1-5 units, then it's gone. After 1 hour of standing in the same spot with my hand held miner pointed at the same spot I had 472 units in my cargo hold and the Ore within the Asteroid hadn't changed at all. That's close enough to "infinite" for the sake of this post.

The part where I said "it's probably a bug" is likely how mine didn't deplete even after 1 hour and yours still gets chewed up and goes away.

When I mine by hand, I also can mine the ores at 99% efficiency and the ore never "dissolves." I would like either drones, or changes to the Misactor to be made. I usually love mining in space games, but here, its just not fun or engaging.

The infinite Ore bug only works if you don't move at all. If you move your crosshair any amount it will eat the ore. It is best to use a macro or tape to hold the buttons for you and then going afk for a bit.

When you collect things by hand (your Character, not your ship) it has zero weight, just uses cargo slots. The Carrier starts with like ~130 slots alone and Ore stacks to 99 per slot.

Afk mining by hand (0% power) and go away for a few hours, come back rich. (and good mining exp without going insane)

Well it's now 2024 ver 4.00 and it still works for me. Even works at 70 30 very well. Are you moving your mining laser or holding it still? If you don't hold it still it will eat through.

Set number lock to 1 aim and 0 fire. once you get going turn num lock off. This will let you mine infinite hands free. Easier than taping mouse or holding etc.

I done that before but I actually find the whole mining process relaxing so I usually skip out on this exploit

Since I'm back for 4.0 and am starting new, as in needing big TY, I will give this a try, thank you!

I've edited the OP to reflect that it still works in 4.0 and added your method for hands free mining!
