is there some trick to entering atmosphere closer to your destination?

I'm doing the mission called The Molyax. Going to planet Brion and I have to enter the atmosphere and fly to a hatch. I didn't see any guidance from the topside as to where I was supposed to go and once I got into the atmosphere I'm 86,000 km from the destination. So I just fly that direction? It's been 4 minutes of just flying in a straight line. BORING gameplay here.

On top of that the "toggle lock thrusters" button stopped working for some reason so now I just have to hold down W?

edit: got bored, closed the game, got better things to do with my day than hold down W for 5 minutes while I watch boring ass scenery go by

Once your in orbit of the planet, activate your jump again and warp to your target on the surface.

Once you warp to a planet, wait till warp drive cooldown, then press B to see all sites on planet, and warp to location. Also check tutorials, in which shown how to do that, to avoid boredom.

Press B when outside a planet (before landing).

If where you want to jump is on the other side it should have a sling-shot point to warp to.

after the molyax mission if you use the warp function to reach the HQ on Brion it will teleport you into the planet and everything is mostly black and you cant get out unless you reload a save, so after this mission just press b to figure out where the hq is and point your ship there turn off warp drive and hit caps lock for cruise control it will take a few minutes but its better then getting stuck

Odd, the first time you enter atmosphere you don't use the warp drive, it just takes you directly to the site.
