hoverbikes need a rework and something added to them
i will address some issue and bugs about the hoverbike and how it can be reworked

before anything do not get me wrong i am not saying the hoverbike is terrible i am saying it should be reworked a bit to be good and i am not saying all of those should be added at once, it's alright if this is not added but i am just suggesting how it could be reworked

Issues

- the hoverbike weapon serves literally no purpose

- the hoverbike is always on every ship for some reason and does not add more price in the ship market

- the hoverbike model is not changeable or upgradable it could use some upgrades in the faction hanger like speed and weapon damage

- the hoverbike does not have any missions related to using it making it only worth for exploring, mercenary missions could use hoverbikes (i would love this added, it would be incredible)

- the hoverbike do not have a small inventory in them (i swear to god not a star citizen reference)

- hoverbike do not have thrusters

Bugs

- if you are in combat and get seriously low just call a hoverbike and the enemies wont see you anymore if you land you will be immortal for a tiny bit before taking damage yet again and if you land while on low hp you will regain all your HP and energy and stamina and armor (if combat starts while you are riding the hoverbike you will be forced to get off the hoverbike so just use it mid-combat)

- the hoverbike can float above water


- the hoverbike can be used seriously anywhere

How can it be reworked?

firstly like i mentioned in issues i would love if there are mission related to hoverbikes and if they had thruster fuel and the weapons could be given a use and it could be given a role in the ship market and the faction hanger

I would say rework how H is working.


Instead of clicking on H and then using your mouse i would personally prefer having a ''radio button''

When pressing that button a tab would appear, no need for a mouse. In that tabs you would see your choices and you could select them with numbers. A bit like how conversations are working right now with the npcs.

Maybe even add Drane as a voice in the radio.


Example :


You click on the shortcut and then drane say :

- Yes commander, how may i assist you ?

then some choices appear in a tab :

1. Bring my ship to me.
2. drop the hoverbike.
3. follow me.
4. go dance with Myolax

Then drane could say something basic like :

- Roger that commander.



So instead of having to move the mouse you just have to press 2 button. shortcut + numbers.

That radio could be used when you have companions on the ground to give them orders too.

that'd be really annoying to code

- remaking the tab
- making more AI voicelines
- adding controls

do not think these are easy he needs to add them to all programs the game uses and most of the time those programs do not share the same coding language so i'd recommend more simple or easy

agree, It does seem like a lot of work.

but when he will add companion, he need a system to give them order anyway. So why not use that for the ship too ?

agree, It does seem like a lot of work.

order system for the ship is programmed so it's already added

there is literally no explainable way how
I would really love to see the hoverbikes change to make it more fun using them. Currently they blindly follow the terrain with no physical effects whatsoever like gravity when jumping over a mountain, terrain effects on the bike etc. The dev should look in the game No Man's Sky, here the equivalent vehicles used on planets do have these effects making the exploration and even combat much more fun.

Okay, that's been my main pet peeve for it
they need to re do the hover bike controls ♥♥♥♥♥ sooo wonky
I just hate the hoverbike because the game forces you to use it for certain planet missions and it likes to softlock me so I can't move or get off the bike. It especially likes to do that if I haven't saved in a while.

do save very often
F6 is our friend
(save like every time you do an important action like raiding villages or every 5-30 minutes)

Lol I pictured in my head "Centurions". Instead of calling a hover bike, a jet-set flys to you and straps on a la Iron Man errrm I guess a la Centurions* lol.

*=If you no clue, look up Centurions Ace McCloud. Was both cartoon and toy(s) from the '80's

Anyways, my 2 cents... Nothing I am about to say is meant to take away from others' opinions and ideals...

Currently (imho) planets are a bit Static ((ya, Early Access and all that)). As (and IF) they become more Dynamic, then yeah an in-between mode of travel (something faster than the current jet pack/gravity boots and slower than a ship) would be great.

All of this opinion, admitting, is based w/o knowing DBK's plan for planets.

Current state...meh I can't be bothered to explore it ((again, early access and all that)). But, if planets aren't at least on par with Empyrion ((and yes I get they are completely different games and genres, but the meaning is ...active and populated worlds)), I just don't see a need to mess about on them**. Other than to land on for the sites, like Salvage, Merc missions, Pits, etc.

**=the ? are interesting for the most part imho, but I can get better loot and easier Adventure xp in space (for the most part).
If there ever will be upgrade slots for the hoverbike, I imagine, that you could upgrade it in the ship's service menu with a "Hoverbike" button instead of the "Misactor" button, which still appears for all ships, not just for the Mining Ship, where it makes sense.
