SpaceBourne 2
stargates - dragging the gameplay down
spending waaaay too much time fussing around with stargates, instead of fun things in a video game.

by far this stargate requirement to fast travel out of a system is the least fun part of the game.

and this would normally not be a deal breaker... but... you use it ALL the time, like half the gameplay is fussing with stargates??

i prefer to get from A to B without a C in the middle.

Stargate system is fun, at beginning, after it's annoying, maybe keep the stargate system for change system and new plantet, and after a system quicker will be nice.

My 2 cents and more of a food for thought...

I respect opinions both for and against stargates. For me however, this is the best damned stargate system I have seen in a game. Not even exaggerating there. Most games (in past) you spend over 15 minutes (typically longer). Eve and Earth and Beyond come to mind...both placed auto pilot as some compensation for the time sink.

Then games tried travel w/o gates and it ended up in some screen saver mode as your ship FTL'd/warped/etc. the vast distances on their own power and things took even longer (imho).

I would add in I have been playing space games since the MUD era...like Dark Galaxy. And even then on those games you had to wait sometimes for literal hours to take action as you awaited to arrive.

So I get the "now", "now seemless", "before now", "do it before I even know I want to do it" mindsets and to a point don't exactly disagree. Guess I am saying I appreciate how good it actually is "now".

If you look at the warpgate system it does actually jump through hubs for the longer ranged trips, much in the same way that the network in SB1 does it.

SB2's is consistent to the universe of the game.

I tend to jump directly to systems when I want to fiddle with my faction stuff. Or if I want to step away and not do the Stargate. Ya, may take a bit longer. I also like the sounds of it.

Yeah, and you must fly between POIs in the system for quite a long time.
Also, there are only 5 systems in ES2, and you still have to go to the gate POI every time you need to change the system. (and after 50 hours in it, believe me, it IS tedious)

Also, gates only connect two systems, so no way to bypass the ones in the middle, contrary to SB2.

There is no perfect system transit method in space games.

Star citizen use a similar quick travel method (load superspace whatever, aim, jump), but no intersystem travel yet.

ED has a simple press f button to jump to the next system on the route. But if you think that's the best method to travel far... you haven't played ED. I have close to 1000hrs on it, I'm pretty sure 75% of it is me pressing F.

SB2 has a simple system, choose where you want to go, go through the gate, and tadaa, you're halfway across the galaxy, it's the only game I know that has such a fast and quick transit system.

If you think 20 seconds is too much of a price to pay, you don't know how easy you have it.

oh, please tell me you didn't play everspace2 for 50 hours without doing the challenge that lets you fast forward travel inside each system. you just have to do a few things in each new system then fly near the sun and then you complete the challenge and can fast forward all over the place. it is probably one of the greatest things in the game.

Of course, I did the challenges.
Still takes time to get it (a few hours, for each system), and even with the time skip, it takes time.

Are you telling me you are ok with spending 30 seconds every time you need to move between POIs for hours, then doing challenges to unlock a time skip feature, which will still take time to move between POIs, but not ok with doing something less cumbersome when you want to move between system?

Yeesh, I have always had a problem with people who try to do more to achieve less and still find a way to complain that it takes too much time.

i think the weight of your argument is measured poorly.
but w/e. that's as you say, your problem. not mine.

(you're conflating a lot of separate mechanics into a single unsupported thought. have fun with that)

Actually, it's your problem, you are the one complaining.

I'm fine with the way things are working as they are.

spoiler alert!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!!

sorry to contradict you all ..

there is a game in the gate jump ..

it consists in being a good pilot and aiming for the red dot which is at the moment of the jump ..

you must touch it or be at most close ..

Indeed, you have all noticed that: In the description of the villains of the bounty hunter guild, it is specified in the description / a state of driver's license.

So there will be an interaction with Momo the droid in the story line.. I won't say more, it's up to you;)

(Ps ) personal courriel to A.G ( i has a very good memory , but I fell into the trap with the character's jump frog .. damm it (it's a trap) fck this ...) :steamhappy:

Annnd nobody cares, that's why this Thread exists and why those of us who replied that this little "mini game" at the Stargate is annoying us as well. I just want to get through the Stargate to the next System, nothing else. Does that mean the Dev will remove it, probably not, but it won't stop those of us who don't like this game mechanic from stating as much.

When you make the relationship of all the droids present in all the stations that clean up and pass the mop.. And I thank all you do for the community with your videos..
DeLindsay May 2, 2023 @ 6:21pm
And I should be clear, this game mechanic where you have to get within ~200m of the little square in front of the Stargate and then go through (as close as possible) the travel tunnel that appears is so far the ONLY thing I don't care for in SpaceBourne 2. I'm addicted to the game otherwise.
Paonydass May 2, 2023 @ 6:40pm
I understand very well..

you will see what it is all about and what the creator of the game has in store for us. I won't say a word more about the facets of the story and its many intrigues.
I think I have said too much about the hidden facet of droids.

-I don't like MoMO, he's treacherous (disable every other engine, drift your mining drone, move your huge away, disable a weapon on your ship, retract your landing gear, disrupt your scan)
these are not bugs my friend, it's MOMO..
MOMO is dangerous .. MOMO conspire (eggs)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy4EfdnMZ5g
Wait and see.

The game is good..
