- warp to an escape point
- select your target normally, this makes you warp to a 'Trebuchet' point which goes around the planet.
but yes.. if the target is in the same system, you can use B to cancel warp.
but then i have to nitpick and ask why are we using warp within a system, instead of a pulse.
Not being allowed to drop out of warp between systems seems fair enough to me as that would dump you into a void. There's no reason to require doing that other than being careless over your choice of destination.
Other systems have round icons and the AU distances are much, much greater.
