Someone did the math once and it's about the same, buy at a higher Level or buy low Level and keep upgrading it over time.
Actually, upgrading a low level ship appears to give you better stats than buying a higher level one and upgrading it for just a level or two now.
I tried with two Nexasis ships. Ship one was T2 / L2, ship two was T2 / L7. I was Pilot 9.
Ship one got to almost double shields and armour than ship two at T4 / L9. Other stats were much higher too.
I am keeping my PIlot level intentionally low, and farming with Soldier only - Salvage Yards, Mercenary missions, random POI ground missions... The loot is calculated based on your best skill, so I am getting much higher level Pilot loot I have no use for and can sell. This allows me to raise my Soldier level and also farm a lot of TY.
When you advance the story to the point when you start creating NPC units and your wingmen swuad, they level up to your best skill level +2. This will allow me to have them level up a lot, without me going through hyperinflation of Pilot gear and ship prices.
Edit: MInd, that Mercenary missions and other ground combat (except for villages) seems to be broken terribly now.
Yep definitly, I'll do that too.
Good points, thank you. With my miner ship which has a big cargo hold I can do 1M per village on planets, that's pretty good, however currently I'm at pilot lev 27, I see cap ships for 94.5M, at level 24 they were 75M, you see the increase...It's true that I can transfer money from WRA to my money, so I think it's faster if I get plenty of system and structure ressources by plundering and conquering single structures, then their system. If I do this several times my pilot level raises too fast I think :(
Thanks for these infos. So best I can do is avoiding ship combats where I need to be at least at the same enemy level and earn money elsewhere, this would not make the ship prices (and their equipments for my level) go up?
From the 1,9 post:
NEW FEATURES AND CHANGES :
Ship and Character:
• The ability to change ship perks has been added to the game. Now every ship has a class perk, and you can change other perks by purchasing Perk Modules from Faction Hangars and adding them to your ship via the Ship Upgrade console.
• New perks and new perk module class items have been added to the game.
• Soldier exp has been balanced, and damage is now tied to level. Killing high-level NPCs is now more difficult.
• The ship level and tier upgrade system has been completely overhauled. Now, ships are upgraded in a more balanced manner based on their classes and starting bonuses.
While I was making this thread I actually stayed on the same station (StrongHold station at Alphaxos), and the ship prices have changed.
Cap ship was at 94,5M, half an hour later (I was going through the forum threads) it's now changed to 83, 168M !!
You get about 8-10 stacks of 99 ore per hour, and this will be changed later i'm sure. As he has not completed mining and crafting in the game yet.
99% efficient on hand mining laser, as long as don't move your mouse around will mine the same spot for years without chewing up the node. This totally isn't fare money making and expect this to get changed, once he gets to it.
