huhu you should... best ability in the game.
Perks are drone/engine burst/stabilizer. Real money-maker with a full rack of pod catchers and 4 prisoner bays in bounty missions. Engine burst is handy when capturing or defending stations, because those enemies that stand off and are just dots in the distance - pop right up if you point your nose their way and punch that burst a couple times.
Just tried the Xeghan Warrior. Even more disappointing than the Annihilator. Sure, it's quick and nimble, but so are the opponents, and if you take a few hits, you're dead. The WRA can take a pounding. Doesn't need to be fast, just let them come to you.
And BTW - there does seem to be a drone control interface in 2.0.1. When I release my drones, I get a circular icon in the bottom right. Haven't figured it all out yet, but it looks like there are combos of the F keys to operate it somehow. Unfortunately, the F keys also send commands to the wingmen, so it gets a little confusing. And usually, by the time I get around to experimenting with it, the battle's over.
It's not impossible to get multi missile and holographic mirror, you find them in different faction hangars and simply install over the existing unwanted perk
That all said, I'm a fighter pilot jockey so far. I haven't tried a fighter drone ship yet.
