GPS? In.. space?

I just picked up a walk-by mission and I'm supposed to go find someone with GPS and kill the target. ... what GPS?

Galactic Positioning System

Look under contracts for tracked ships.

You can add tracking devices to ships which allow you to drop them from warp and track cargo and location. (Just like how the pirates do it to you)

That quest, you automatically get it added to your track ship list (you did not need to add the tracker yourself)

I must be bugged. If I go to the contracts tab, it defaults to the Missions tab on the left. If I click Contracts in the left tab, nothing happens. If I go to logs, the UI changes, but if I go directly back to the Contracts tab on the left, the log UI sticks around. I don't see anything about tracking ships anywhere.

(Seems like both Contracts and Bounties aren't working?)

Have you unlocked the brotherhood guild quest chain? I have heard a few others can't do this random quest, if they have not completed the first part of the brotherhood quest chain (which gives you the ship tracker tab in contracts)

Like how Freelancer guild unlocked "looking for pilot" tab etc

I recommend unlocking all the guild starter quests as soon as you can

Freelancer Guild, I have to go and do the upgrade. Miners guild just Rank 1. Is this one of the guilds that are greyed out?

Triggers around rank 15 in pilot.
You will get dropped out of warp (without being attacked) and the Brotherhood will message you to come join them.

Its one of the bottom three 'special' guilds. I will not spoil the last two.

If its gets fixed for you at L15, can you use F10 in game and log the quest as bugged anyway, cause it should not be able to be picked up before L15 if you can't get a tracked ship screen until L15

I found out where the problem was. I had to go into Galaxy Web, then Tracking Ships. I eventually completed the task. It's not under Contracts.

every time I travel to the location listed, it changes, for example; it says my target is at 524, I travel to 524 and get nothing, I look at the targets location and now it's at 417.... so I go there, then it's changed again, What am I missing?

Nothing's missing, it's supposed to be like that. Did the tracking mission once, eventually arrived in the same system as the target, takes a bit of patience. Please note, first time I did this and attacked the target was next to the gate, and all the security ships immediately attacked me. So I reloaded my previous save and tracked him to another system where a timer for security forces arrival appeared, so maybe avoid engaging next to the gate. Also (for me at least) a fighter obviously several levels higher than me appeared, had to reload a couple of times before I could kill the target and escape, so go prepared just in case. Though this was a couple of updates ago, maybe it's different?

Random. As said, you will eventually catch up, just takes time.

LoL, after chasing the same target for 2 hours, I think I will be passing on these missions, I unfortunately roll 1's all day long and RNG thinks me it's play thing. XD

biggest problem with this game is the lack of any explanation. Each and every activity seems to be hit Google and look for threads like this.
