SpaceBourne 2

This game already has mod support! (instructions)
Let me explain, cause some people might be confused as heck right now.
Unreal games have a sort of built in mod support called patch pack modding or loose file modding.
the dev has done nothing to encrypt or lock his game files he did not even include and AES key. meaning that you can open the PAK file and any morel in this game
you will need either Umodel or Fmodel and the version of unreal is 4.27
here is a wonderful guide on how to get started.
I personally am going to start with seeing if i can add in guns.

I have to admit as stated on another post too, I think it's too early to worry about adding mods that might or will break every week as opposed to getting modders involved and assist to have things built in instead.

Never to early to start looking into modding and learning how a game is structured. yes the mods will break on the regular, but it is gathering knowledge for later.
Though I am concerned with what I have found. many many assets in this games files are from other games, I found a ship from Star Conflict, and many others.

maybe these models are temp placeholders until later?

This is what I am hoping, I can't recall seeing any of them in game, but anyone who has played this game also knows that all the weapons pictures are just pictures of guns from games like mass effect and halo XD

Are you sure they aren't the standard package ones ?

I recall the files in StCo having the same.

As for modding, as mentioned, I'd rather see the modders get the involved and things implemented at this stage than adding our to an unfinished product.

Personal opinion

Very sure, I played Star Conflict enough to recognize the ships.
Also something is off with the textures of several ships, they are very cartoonish or anime like, while some are more realistic.
Not that the dev hasn't done an amazing job far as the code and game structure, but the models are either stolen or from asset packs.

Nothing wrong with using Store Assets, that's literally what they exist for. And I've done a fair bit of recon on SpaceBourne I, if SpaceBourne II ends up looking at or better than the 1st game (once he's gotten all the content in and bugs fixed) then we're in for a treat.

That said, I use Mods in just about any game that allows them as the modding community can come up with some truly amazing things.

it's not the store assets that worry me. it's the stolen ones.
the more I look the more I find.

Have you considered contacting the Dev directly if you're so worried?

@Operator just because you found code in SB2 that you've seen in other games doesn't automatically mean it's stolen code/assets. It's one thing to say SB2 uses assets that other games do (no harm, no foul), but it's an entirely different thing to imply the Dev of SB2 outright stole other Games' assets.

One never knows what happens behind the scenes. There could be an agreement between the 2 Studios, the Dev of SB2 may have worked on another Game for another Studio without a non-compete clause, he simply may have created said assets for another Studio and is contractually free to use them in SB2, or BOTH Studios might have bought the same store assets. You just never know.

I did not see anything that looked stolen when I unpacked the files looking for ways to edit the flags etc.

Next time you go through the files look for a ship called
"mjolnir"
It's a ship from a game called star conflict.

You do know that the silhouettes of the guns in this game are from mass effect, and Halo right? I didn't acuse them of stealing the assets, maybe the dev is unaware and bought them from a site by mistake, but all i know if several of the ships and assets in this game are not made by this dev and certainly were not made by him.

What do you mean "bought them from a site by mistake"? If the Assets are being sold for Commercial use, then they should be perfectly fine for ALL games to use them. Yes, there could be scammers out there selling reproduction or outright stolen code used for assets in other games but this would NOT be the case if it's on the Unreal store (at least to the point that Unreal should be vetting out everything uploaded to the store for sale). But the Dev wouldn't be the one at fault in that case.
