Not sure but they do seem stronger, Gatling's seem to have minor adjustments too
i was using Gatling before and i don't see a difference while fighting. Dmg tooltip is the same i think and so is the fire rate.
Maybe accuracy or projectile speed ?
I do remember having to aim way ahead of the ship to be able to hit... gonna pay attention to that.
You say you added a turret slot, so it has 4 turret slots now? I'm curious how you did this?

Which ship you buy, that's a playing style and preference question, for myself I'm trying to transform my miner ship in a combat vessel, let's see if I succeed, I guess not but I try it.
I fly the Xeghan and the upgrades work just fine, both tiers and levels.
As for Command ships... not so much!
I don't think it's ship-based. I fly a Xeghan, too. I was aiming for +damage or +crit chance, and I rolled literally 30+ times. One or both stats decreased every time. The more I upgraded, the more likely it seemed to be that I'd get stat decreases instead of increases. I stopped upgrading the level at level 21, and have tried increasing the ship level (with a save beforehand) each patch. Nothing has changed.
There's a theory that this could be because early iterations of the ships had higher than intended stats, so this is bringing them back within range, but there hasnt been anything in the patch notes about that. I'm not sure, but I'd definitely recommend saving before doing any level upgrading of your ship. Tier upgrading, however, seems to be fine.
Just upgraded a new mining ship. First tier upgrade doubled my armor and shield. Next upgrade lowered them to worse than they were before i put any upgrade in it.
Decided i wasn't happy with that and reloaded 20-30 times and never been able to get an actual upgrade to my shield and armor.
Same happened to my main ship the X-M1. My first upgrade was amazing and luckily i kept it by saving. After that it took me a crazy amount of save/reload to even get anything better.
''One or both stats decreased every time. The more I upgraded, the more likely it seemed to be that I'd get stat decreases instead of increases.''
So i agree with you on that, at least it is very similar on my end.
I assume you are talking about the X-M2
You don't need cooler on the X-M2. If you didn't invest too much in it, i strongly advise taking something else.
The x-m2 comes with very good offensive stats and it is extremly hard to overheat with it.
You have only 1 pod space on that ship, so pod stabilizer is kind of a waste.
- If we are talking about the same ship.
It always has cloak.
So you are left with 2 other perk of choice.
The middle perk is always going to be one of these : Weapon burst, Defensive T1, All boost, Immortal
The last perk : Cooler, Engine Burst, Holographic Mirror, Multi-Missiles.
I don't remember seeing Stabilizer pod, Signal disruptor and the cargo perk on that ship but since you have the pod perk i assume it is in the middle because of the cooler perk.
Now that ship is a beast for speed and dmg. For me All Boost is a no brainer giving full power to your engine and turrets.
Weapon burst is kind of useless on it with its 2 weapon slot ( 3 with upgrade ) compared to the Annihilating with its 6 slots.
Both defensive and immortal are good on slow ships. You are so fast you shouldn't get hit in the first place not only that but they both have long cooldowns especially immortal.
For the last Perk, as i said cooler is basically useless on that ship. The other 3 perks are very good choices. I don't think it matter much which one you choose.
Holographic is good and doesn't cost much. Your ship comes with good energy regen so should be able to maintain that for a while.
Multi-Missiles is really strong especially early on and can 1 shot most fighters. It cost a lot of energy and unfortunately get outmatched by basic weapons later.
Engine Burst is amazing, versatile and can get you out of situation you don't want to be in, it pair very well with cloak for that. My personal choice.
TLDR : Don't choose Stabilizer perk and Cooler perk on the X-m2, go for all boost and Holographic/Multi-Missiles/Engine Burst one of these...
