Any way to increase the deadzone for ship control?
The current deadzone is far too sensitive, making turning the ship feel too touchy.
I looked for a setting in the options, but couldn't find anything. That said, there are a lot of options in there and I might've glossed over it.

Not sure if what referencing, but I saw under input for mouse and keyboard - can reduce sensitivity to 0.5 - does that help any? (default is set at 1)

Hey Marik, thank you for the answer. I think that might help in a way, but not exactly what I mean. I mean, a larger zone, in the middle of the screen, where the mouse doesn't make the ship turn. Think of a circle, in the middle of the screen (while in ship) where you can move the mouse around in and it doesn't start turning the ship.

Currently, there is no deadzone at all, so, for example, it's REALLY hard to make the ship truly go straight. If the mouse cursor is even a pixel from the dead center of the screen, the ship will slowly go in that direction. It would be nice if there were basically a safe zone where the mouse could move around a little inside of and the ship wouldn't turn.

I hope that makes the idea clearer.

I too am trying to figure out how best to manage the controls. Might require a joystick to get that "deadzone." With mouse and keyboard, if the mouse isn't perfectly centered, the ship rotates...continuously.

Similar issue: I'm looking for a throttle setting, so that I don't have to hold down the w key to move forward.

So ideally, having a throttle setting and a deadzone will allow me to travel in a straight line without constantly twitching the mouse or holding down a key.

Again it sounds like a joystick / HOTAS might solve this issue.

Ahh get what you mean about the deadzone - havent found anything for that I can see.

As far as throttle setting - can hit caps lock button to lock current basic speed- can use the mouse wheel to adjust the speed want to lock at - however this is only for the basic W thrust - doesn't work for the afterburner/shift speed above that - still need to hold SHIFT key - least ways I haven't found anyway to do it for the SHIFT thrust.

Also assume most know, but deactivating weapons with tab key will allow ship speed to go faster- almost doubles speed if dont need weapons out.

Good Fortune!

I'm assuming, like me, you are also trying to use your mouse to pilot your ship.
If that is the case then our problems will NOT BE SOLVED with any "mouse dead zones settings!" It will only serve to obfuscate and add to our problems (the mouse will still "feel" too touchy, and it will also make mouse movements very laggy and imprecise as well!). The real problem here is that both SpaceBourne 1 and 2 ONLY REQUIRES MOUSE USERS TO COMPENSATE (move our mouse in the opposite direction), with just the right amount of mouse movements, to slow down or stop our ship. Similar to using just enough reverse thrust to slow down or stop your ship, except in this case its like 500 times harder because of the very shorter time frame and needing to deal with multiple axis at the same time. To reiterate, Joystick and Controller users DON'T NEED TO "COMPENSATE" to stop their movements," ONLY MOUSE USERS HAS TO DO SO! The reason why you think the game is too "touchy" is because you have initially over compensated to stop your turn(s), then you naturally over compensate to deal with your previous over compensation and so on and so forth... This is called "Pilot-induced oscillation" and is a real problem for pilots till avionics trim them out. What we, the mouse users, really need to do is get this developer to understand this "mouse user induced oscillation" phenomenon and deal with it accordingly instead of JUST COMPLICATING THE PROBLEM with only mouse "dead zones settings." Basically its his miss-implementation of mouse controls.

To prove my case, download the free (demo) copy of "Chorus" and play that with ALL mouse dead zones (Free Aim Radius (Mouse) and Steer Aim Radius (mouse)) turned down to "0", and set "Aim Acceleration" to <OFF>, then finally set "Aim Sensitivity (Mouse)" to match your highest mouse skill level. You will find that it will feel very natural and you will be able to make way quick and very precises directional changes and adjustments without much effort! This is because you already have spent 1,000s of hours practicing for it! Every time you effortlessly point to any objects in your Windows', or Mac's desktop.

Know what I'd like better than a deadzone? Response curves. Then I could dial in lots of mouse movement for vine control near the centre, and big ship movement at the extremes for responsive dogfighting.

I was thinking of being so bold, as to start a thread here that only deals with mouse related issues and bugs. This way, hopefully this Dev will not overlook us, the PC gamer who is not going to drop $150-$1,000 on a HOTAS system just to play a $20 game. Joysticks and Controller have their place but they can not match up to the versatility of a 110 key keyboard and the speed and precision of a mouse. But this really depends on how savvy the developers are towards developing quality games for the PC market.

there is no deadzone setting? :-/

Not that I can see.

Also, I do have a hosas (similar to hotas, just two sticks instead of a stick and throttle), I just don't have the means to "mount" them. Nothing for them to sit on, beside my chair. So, in that vein, I'm limited to mouse and keyboard and the mouse is definitely too sensitive.

My experience with using HOSAS give me the opposite issue. The deadzone is way too large for me to feel accurate. I have to move my stick way too much before there is any input.

My 2 cents...

Just food for thought... I use a Corsair mouse, so this is more for the gamers who have logitech, razer, etc. type mouse(s). Though I do not need it for SB2, I have in past for other games used my mouses control panel/program/app (for Corsair it is called iCUE) to slow down/speed up the movement of the mouse as required... or even to calibrate it to my movement (which as said before I am a disabled vet and have a messed up wrist...so this option is very handy).

Anywho, anytime I play one of those games where it is needed, I just load up the profile and go.
