So I do think it is possible, though difficult. Make sure you put all power to engines.
That said, some pirates may have far better engines than you. In that case, it is time to reload.
It's good advice to make sure to save before warping.
Last time i decided to kill the pirates with the help of my wingmen, they attacked the next station I docked at.. that was a headache all right.
You drift away enough distance at max speed away from enemies after which you can warp. You set max power to engines, hit SHIFT-W, then CTRL while holding SHIFT-W which will start drifting at max speed. You must repeat because at some point you will stop drifting.
Works for me every time I wish to leave, especially against warp disruptions from pirates. It will not work with big ships that cannot drift like trading ships or the Xanthean capital ship.
