"Hi, welcome to the SpaceBourne series. The first raid is heavily scripted and talks about the tactical map which gives a 2d overlay of the current battle. You can orient youself in the position of one of the points of interest and hold B to quickly fly in that direction. Support your allies in the objective and it'll advance. In my own experience I didn't have to do much because it's a plot event. So they will get you to the point where you need to fly to the central point of interest and exit your ship and go to the platform to participate in the ground combat."
I don't think creating a toxic community is going to grow this game so that the developer can continue to complete/polish it. Being unwelcoming or downright insulting is not going to bring people here to buy and play.
And as a software engineer myself I can assure you that any incomplete collection of code is always going to be garbage. What will make the biggest difference is support of the developer so he can bring it to where it needs to be in alignment with his vision.

Reminded me of Metal Gear Solid V the Phantom Pain only in reverse. lol
Needless to say at such a low level with weak weapons and armor, (Pilot Level 5 , Soldier Level 2, Adventurer Level 1) I got shot up, killed and quit. Thinking I saved my progress for lack of a better word.
That was yesterday, today I took the step back and snipe approach.
When I loaded up the game the save wasn't on the planet with the Merc entry level mission, it was in space before the mission but in the same galactic zone I guess you would call it. So I do the mission again, pile up the bodies (about 5 of them), but one manages to make it to the hacked computer and stops all of my 'hacking downloading' progress and the mission terminated.
So I leave the planet and decide to pursue the raid since it's 'ready now'. Right before I was about to make planetfall to do the mission I get this message that the raid is ready so I pursued that after the Merc Entry level mission failed.
The Freelancer Guild Mission was easy by comparison, Destroy 1 ship with a target in the ship piloted by someone the Freelancers wanted killed and his two escorts. Easy peasy, I did it, I'm in the Freelancer's guild.
But this 'RAID', is totally confusing, I hit the B key and the ship accelerates but gets no where fast, I hit control and I see this totally confusing map on the screen with symbols on it but I can't interact with it, I can't aim for anything, it's just floating there on the screen totally useless and meaningless from my perspective.
I express my frustration here hoping for answers of some sort or clues and get hostility instead of advice or information because these two that toss that hostility my way have figured it all out so they consider themselves to be rare geniuses. I suspect Youtube helped them, which is probably the route I will have to take so I can be a genius too.
But I wouldn't brag about it and I will not insult anyone when I do figure it out. If I even keep on playing.
At this point the game seems to me to be pretty rough around the edges and needs a lot of work. Especially the User Interface.
If the developer has a 'vision' it is a myopic vision and if this game is indeed in pre-alpha it has no business being sold on STEAM in EARLY ACCESS. It seems a lot like an ALPHA to me.
Has anyone been to a city yet? I have, totally full yet totally empty and no where to go that I could figure out. Too big and easy to get lost in. No map either. First person view in the ship has no radar screen. It has one but it's just a small square fuzzy screen with nothing on it.
The map you use to navigate with , there's two one with the T key and one with the M key, the one with the M key is confusing. I figured out watching a Youtube video that you type in a three digit number and the location comes up, you hit that magnifying glass and it shows you what you're looking for. As for navigation, it's hit or miss, I struggle with both maps a little not so much with the T key navigation map but with the 'macro' M key map.
Game needs work. It has some cool stuff to it but it's a little rough.
I called the game garbage because that raid frustrated the hell out of me, I've never been so completely at a loss for what to do next this early in a game. IF I went back and tried it again I still wouldn't know what the hell I was doing or was expected to do to advance the 'story'? or whatever it is I'm actually doing on this raid in the first place. I don't know that either.
I would actually prefer to sandbox it and avoid 'raids' all together if this is what a 'raid' is. Another thing, when you're in a dog fight with an enemy ship and you fire your gatling guns, the tracers do not connect with the trailing crosshairs. I had to ignore the crosshairs to hit the target by watching the arc of the tracers. It was wack too.
It's as if there's a feature there but there is also a disconnect because the feature doesn't work as intended and it's the same case with hitting ctrl during this raid situation and seeing a 'map' of the 'raid' floating in space on your ship's screen or windshield...? Cupola whatever you want to call it. There's a disconnect there and it doesn't seem to work as intended or if it is working as intended it's confusing because I do not get it and there is no tutorial video that tells you what's going on.
It's a map of the raid the player is supposed to 'interact' with but you can't interact with it. So what is it for and what does it mean?
I've been slogging my way through the game successfully up until this point. This raid is like a brick wall for me.
2.the tutorial gives complete detail on what to do, advanced tactics is to toss em to the side and do all the killing of enemy fighters solo since the squads are weak(my strat anyway), then sending em to each structure. also read the middle of the screen, it says to go to next step plain and simple when 1/2/3 are done. searching 'conquer' instead of 'raid' helps too, there are no roaches in game... yet?
3.there are some guides, maybe not for everything, but some, and a search function for discussions>:D.... geniuses?!?!?! no we(me?) simply played enough games with far worse ui's, annoying and borderline useless tutorials(sb2 barely skates the line of complex), excess amounts of crap, and no, we are not geniuses(not me atleast). youtube didnt help me, i tried things, flew around, did random things, quick glanced each menu and added a small postit in my brain of relevant things, remembering as much as i want and nothing else.

there probes not drones, drones are what you use in battle , not tried drones and every time i use probes it just goes over 20% and i lose the signal.
You're actually supposed to keep them below 20% and get a lot of them. They'll slowly move together until they resolve into a new warpable object on the map.
I tend floated about listening to them chatter away as I tried to figure out how to quickly travel about the raid location (process of elimination led to the B key) and for some unknown reason the squads all went from first phase straight to the last leaving me to do the bulk of the combat. Didn't seem to be an option to "rewind" them to an earlier order.
everything at first is a bit irritating, once you figure out how the game work. it become a lot less tedious and a lot more fun.
The very first raid
"Use the battle engine to blah blah blah"
but gives NO Indication as to what the ♥♥♥♥ the battle engine is or how to use it! how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard would of it of been to simply do a pop up notification to Press B
further infuriating to not have Any kind of indication as to WHERE THE ♥♥♥♥ TO GO!
The horrible voice acting just keeps telling you to "goto the main building" but what the ♥♥♥♥ is the main building!? how the ♥♥♥♥ do you get to it and once there how the ♥♥♥♥ do you get in side of it!? I have so far spent 3 hours just trying to figure that ♥♥♥♥ out! Seriously ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ADD POI and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Way Points or some kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ indication as to where the actual ♥♥♥♥ to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
poorly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ designed game only compounded by these ♥♥♥♥♥♥ inverted controls that I as an American have not grown up using. In the past 40years Up is Up and Down is Down. Down is not up and Up is not down on control schemes ever!
by the time i got to the "outpost building" which didn't show up as anything other then a unnamed star icon on my hud only to find out thats where I was supposed to go after flying manually to other locations. Landed and the battle was over!!!! again horrible design choice
YOu have a space battle map, 3 points of interests and a center point you will have to raid as a final boom, in the center
On the 3 interest point, your allies battle with the enemy, and you have to destroy the enemy to take possession of the POI (by outnumbering the enemy, a progress bar will advance. When it's full, the POI is yours)
When you have the 3 POIs, the central main point will be unlocked (its shield will be lowered and you will be able to land assault it)
As for the battle engine, it's just a mega speed travel mode to travel between the POI's so you can relocate and help your allies.
I didn't understand how to activate it at first, but you just have to hold B for about 4-5 seconds, not just hit it because then it will activate the warp drive mode.
So, hold B for 4-5 secs, the time for it to charge up, then you will be propelled at 900K+ speed units towards wherever your reticle is pointing at.
