I always wondered, why I couldn't call Drane or anyone else for ground support. Would make some missions much easier, if I had three to four squadmates.
Your wingmen will follow you to ground missions and will madly strafe any enemies on the ground. They make any hacking or village extraction missions a walk in the park. The latter can also be used to farm gear and items for sale.
They work the same if you explore the surface of a planet on your hoverbike. They will kill any enemies in the shack and the cargo spaceship random encounters.
I didn't realise that. I'll have to see if that works; would certainly make some of the Merc Guild missions a little easier!
A couple of points, your wing men tend to disappear a lot especially when jumping space, just save, quit, reload press F1 they will appear, also on planet side missions, your wing men will warp down with you and fly around killing ground forces, same approach if they get stuck just save as you align in space to the planet POI then if they bug and all clump up or do not fly around helping, reload, it works fairly well.
Thanks
Another method:
Press F1, then F5 (warp away) wait approx. 40 seconds, press F1.
