scanning a system..
how does scanning a system work? i saw the tutorial..

but eh % numbers don't show up? the first system? probe seems to work.. finds all kinds of spots.. but the other 2? dont seem to do much.. i've put them right next to stuff the 1st probe found.. played with the area and strength..

but never seems to let me do anything? travel to those spots?

(i had a free lancer join mission that took* me to a system that had an adventure guild.. figured i'd try to join it too.. but not sure how to find hidden stuff?

Holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥, I actually did it.
I did everything I did before, but now instead of disappearing, something actually remained on the map (a mercenary building).
So what I was doing was correct but it's bugged most of the time (for me anyway).

Later Edit: The mercenary building is non existent. I can't contact it and it doesn't appear in space at all. I think this part of the game isn't done at all.

I saw that, but I hoped to find something. Also I'm doing it for the Adventurer XP.

save and reload the building should appear then but you still can't interact with it though

OK, well i figured out what was going on for me..

seems one gets a lot of extra green dots.. but can only scan ones that show a % after the first scanner... i kept trying to boost/merge on other green dots and nothing happened..

If the initial scan probe comes back and doesn't unlock the other probes then there is nothing to find in that system, try another.

When the signals vanish(while being merged) the inteface where it shows the scan strength of the signal will gain whatever value the signal was, i believe if you get it to 100% then you get a warpable marker at that location. I found 2 and both were non interactable.

Its kind of a very basic, crude, triangulation.
Booster and merger probes won't drop initially off the edge of the solar map, so if the area is outside the main solar system they won't drop, drop them inside then re-dispatch them where needed.
Get the Booster and merger probes to cover the area with as many echos as possible, start with boosting the echo strengths up, they will lose strength once you activate the merger.
I think you need to get a certain number/percentage of echos to merge onto the hidden spot, not entirely sure if you need 100% worth of echos, so like 10 echos at 10% or a certain number of echos.

My issue with it, is that it isn't giving me any adventurer xp.

nothing to scan then, not all systems have something to scan.

The way scanning works is that after your main scanner discovers signals, you use your booster first to start to strengthen the blips. You can crank the power up until they get in the teens then back it down to 1% power. Meanwhile pull out the Merger scanner and pull the blips in closer. As you do this, it starts to weaken the percentage so you have to balance between the power of the booster and the power of the Merger to keep them in the 15 to 19% range. You may need to recenter the Merger in the core of the blips as they get closer and you should also reduce your AU size of scan range to tighten everything up as you pull everything towards the center. Those values, once the blips start to resolve, fill up the % meter on the left and once that is 100% you discover what you were scanning for. So keeping them in the 15 to 19% range you will have to have 6 to 7 successful blips resolve. I will post this as a guide in a separate chat as well.

Ok, after some time going at this here is what I have found:

1. Drop Catcher probe and leave it alone

2. Drop the Booster probe
Adjust the size and strength of the probe until the number are close to 20
Once the numbers are there slide the strength to 0

3. Drop the Merger probe
Adjust the size and strength of the probe until they start moving close together
Keep an eye on the numbers and then slide the strength to zero to stop them

Repeat step 2 and 3 until you get the sig
Very good instructions.

Couldn't get anything done with scanning until I read this. Once I did, first try signal acquisition.
