and even in early access it could be sum time before you may even see your request.
this game has amazing game play and if that is all your interested in then the bulk of the game you will miss out on.
So again i think if all you want to do is fly a capital ship then Go Buy X4
EDIT : btw im interested in the BIG ships too
I really enjoy X4. To each their own I suppose.
I am also interested in capital ships.
+1 for cap ships.
I wouldn't say X4 is trash, but I found the interface absolutely overwhelming and it destroyed the game for me. I could handle Eve Online for years, but the X4 UI was just too much for me.
I'd really love to see this get MP as well, but that's only because there's a lot of my former eve corpies looking for an Eve replacement that's not an MMO. But I understand if that's not something the dev wants to consider for this game.
I'm with you; I've got at minimum 10 friends who would love this game if it had co-op multiplayer(drop-in/drop-out, not MMO style); because we played EVE Online together for about 14 years, playing every evening together(it was like a second job for us, except we all liked each other and loved our work).
They'd love this game, but it's a hard sell because they want to play together in games like this. It's kinda like X4; X4 could REALLY bring in more players if it allowed co-op amongst friends, but since it doesn't no one else in my group wants to play it; so we just jump into Star Citizen since it's pretty much the only multiplayer space game available.
It's also on my to-do list. However, I have some doubts about how it will affect the game mechanics and balance. Maybe I'll add it as a test build and decide whether or not to keep it in the game based on feedback from players.
Incorporate bombers and anti-capital ship weapons usable by smaller ships; then allow capital ships to have various turrets or drones to use either against larger ships(anti-cap weapons won't track smaller targets well), or to use as fighter/torpedo defense(turrets/drones that can track and hit nimble fighters/bombers won't have the power to take down other capital ships).
Various classes/types of larger ships aswell; frigates, cruisers, carriers, support vessels for repair/rearm/refuel, freighters, dreadnoughts, etc.
Look at it this way; it's a progression system. Everyone starts off in junky fighters, then upgrades to gunships, then frigates, cruisers, etc. As the player progresses, that's a feeling of accomplishment for them. Maybe they go from using smaller ships to fight other smaller ships, to using bombers to take down frigates, and once they step up into bigger ships they can then start taking on much bigger ships, to the extent that it could lead to capital vs capital battles.
However, it doesn't negate smaller ships like bombers or mine layers, which could still do serious damage to larger ships if they aren't dealt with. If anything it would promote being a smart leader and knowing what ships to take along for certain engagements, how to fit those ships out, etc.
In a sandbox game like this, it's best not to limit the players ability to expand higher up. Look at X4 for inspiration, players get all the way up to dreadnought ships, but they can still lose their entire fleet if they aren't fit for the battle/engagement.
I guarantee, you'll pull a LOT of people who love X4, or even love the thought of X4 but can't get into X4 because it's horrible UI or over-complication when all they want to do is jump in and have fun. =]
