Bounty Hunting

Hey, I would like to know how to locate my bounty hunting targets. I go to the system that is marked for my bounty hunter quest, but when I show up in the system, there is no more quest markers. I tried probing the system, but only found a smuggler base. Any suggestions?

Sorry what is the bounty hunter marker? There are lots of various markers on screen.

You need to scan for them. Hit "T" for the map and then open the scanner tab. You only need a catcher for the bounties I think but an additional booster and merger if you want to find hidden signals for the explorer guild. Just click on the catcher and it will fly to the middle of the system and scan for targets. You should see a pink marker after that for the bounty.
Scanning is like a minigame. Check the little questionmark symbol in the scanner tab to see how it's done.

Mhh, good question. I did not have that problem so far. Sometimes the signals are outside of the view. Make sure that is not the case. If the catcher finds nothing I maybe would cancel the contract and try another one, as you said.
I only had one contract in the beginning which I got from some guys at a station standing around talking. I wasn' t able to find their target and canceled the contract in the end.
All bounty contracts I found on the galaxy web worked so far.

in some cases you are in place but nothing appears after destroying some ships, the mission is still active and without hints or changes. Just stay in the place press 'H' and check if there is any sign of connection or in the box or ship at the top right of the screen, establish the connection, sometimes a communication signal may appear or even a screen giving guidance to where you should go go.

heh .. just ran into the same issue .. and since one cannot move map view it was frustrating .. but using mwheel to zoom out to max distance I discovered the pink blob outside of the actual system!
