Just started playing after six months, and the game feels more more difficult
I've started probably 5 games at default levels and I've died fairly quickly each time. It could be that I'm out of practice, but I don't remember the game being this hard.

I've always played on the experimental branch, so maybe the difficulty has increased there. But, wow, is it hard to get going now. I can't even find a firearm in most games.

Sounds like you should check games settings. Sounds like you're playing on nightmare or custom difficulty.

There are a 'ton' of options you can adjust now that will let you play how you want to.

Never said there wasn't.

You "failed" to mention that in your post. Don't get an attitude for your ignorance.

I would say the opposite tbh. Game's super easy with the default settings.

Beginning is never easy, even on standard difficulty. I mean, it's not easy if the player hasn't progressed beyond early game.
I failed 3-4 times before I got my first successful run in standard.

First 3-4 days are generally the most challenging which makes sense for a survival game. Avoid all threats until you find enough gear to stay alive.
And since each start is random, you can stumble onto a really tough opening few days. But that's the compelling aspect of the game.

My first start was rough with this game: spawned next to a few buildings, looted them while avoiding zombies, then found a wandering mob of bandits a hundred feet down the road and they zerg rushed me with infinite stamina even though I burned a full stamina bar running into the woods...

At other times I've been mauled by a wolf that appeared out of nowhere(partially my fault to be sure because I was so surprised that I flubbed the controls for a few seconds). I've also had a near death encounter due to not finding enough water in the early game(and food can be a bit tough too if you don't find a can opener, or spawn in a place with animals to hunt).

That said, in the early game you should just go stealth with a quick melee weapon. If zombies spot you backpedal while attacking and you should interrupt most of their attacks. You want to level up anyway so you can get health regen at level 2. From there tear up all clothing you find into rags so you can boost your health a step or two beyond the regen amount. That should keep you safe in the early game. Find a decently sized PoI and build an item that blocks spawns so you have a place to sleep and recuperate.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure I haven't died any other time aside from Bosses and exploding Acidics. And, as far as the bosses go, it's just because I thought I had a good cheese spot, but they were still able to damage me.

At the end of the day, the zombies are pretty easy because you can stun lock them with any melee weapon. So, in the beginning, just lure zombies one-by-one until you can get a fire ax.

When someone humbly tries to solve your issue, usually a thanks goes a long way instead of "Never said there wasn't" actually an ungrateful troll

Dude, look into a mirror! First you insult the person and then criticize them for not being grateful even though you yourself haven't given any advice or help. Seriously dude!

I understand that (no nut)november is stressful time for many, but this isn't the place, mmkay

Little men typically say small minded things.

Enjoy being the little man you are.

Feel free to show me where I was asking someone to solve any issue. I assume your lack of reading comprehension is a large issue in your life.

Usually, guys like that are going for the no nut 2020's, however involuntarily.
