abandoned buildings

Could camping in abandoned buildings be a thing, just laying down a sleeping bag in an abandoned building would be more secure than sleeping out in the open, set traps in the doorways and leaving yourself a way out if swarmed. I like the game but this is a glaring omission.

Actually you can. My main base is an abandoned building. There is nothing currently preventing you from doing exactly what you described.

If you carry a door in your backpack, you place the door at the entrance and you are safe.

If out in the open, and its dark, place the sleeping bag on the roof of a van. again safe.

like others have said... Craft or find lamps (the blue camping lights do not need electricity)
then craft a door (you will never find doors) then you placer the door, barricade the backdoor/ garage, place some lights and done! you turned ANY HOUSE YOU WANT into a safehouse..

now place some chests for storage and you are done..

Now in the next update (that we are waiting for and has been delayed 3 times now) we will have more stuff to break down in houses.. so it should be possible THEN to really clear out a house.. Something you cannot do right now it break the "trash" and the old furniture.
