Randomized Weapons?

Been kinda following this since I got it, watching the dev updates and whatnot. Firm believer in supporting a game in EA even if its not 'done' enough for your personal want to play. Anyway, point being I've seen mostly steady development, especially for the size of the team.

My question is, how random exactly, are randomized weapons? Its a personal pet peeve, but I can't stand 'randomized' damage/etc in things that, even if not a realistic art style, are supposed to be somewhat survival simulation esque.

Just a personal immersion breaker when my green 12" barreled 7.62mm rifle does 20% more damage then my white one because the item card is green, rather than because the rifle's barrel happens to be a double the length of the other. There are reasons for guns to do more or less damage, but the color of an item card or 'just because' ain't for me. So which is it?

It is basically just that. There are no "green cards" vs. "white cards", but the damage, headshot damage etc, is a bit random; though within an established "range". You won't find a hunting rifle that will only do 10 damage for example; but you might find one that does a bit less than that, or a bit more... also range is random as well.

If this is the sort of "randomness" you don't like, then you probably won't enjoy the game, even though it's a lot of fun.

When you start playing you will find average weapons, base level. You will find better level weapons, purple if you venture into contamination zones or find the abandoned weapon caches, or go into he bunker/dungeons. The Gold Legendary weapons start showing up once you reach level ten.

so if you find the Gold Katana, that's probably the best melee weapon available, but there isn't any lower quality katana in the game. There is a machete, and hunting knife and a cleaver.

Same for the G36 assault rifle, if you find it, it is a fairly reliable weapon to use out in the world, but if you stumble onto the Gold Legendary Guardian (which is a highly modified G36) that is a darn good weapon going forward.
